ともごりやくなきを
いきとふりたゝらを
ふませておはくろ
とぶへなげこみしを
わかひものとんだどしみつ
やう〳〵ひきあけまいらせてせなかに
おぶひたてまつりのろまのくにはなげ
むらなるおきやくさんかねぼれじへつれ
まいらせしばしかりねのおんちぎりあさ
からずこれによつてこのたび山のしゆく
せうでんてうをおんかりやとしてかいてうし
たてまつりぼんぶけちゑんのために
おとびらをひらきぼんのうほたいを
によき〳〵とおやう？したてまつるもの
なりひとたびはいするともがらはたいへいの
ぢしんをゆらせかつきをさんじみらいは
かならずひけつはちそのうてなでくらしうてうてんへ
のぼりてまんざいらくねのたのしみにじゆめうの
はなげをのばすことうたがひなしごしん〴〵の
おんかたは一ぶもつてとこへまはられませう

そもそも、かりに案じ申し上げますのは、信濃の国・善光寺の本尊、北国伝来、紫磨黄金の泪如来の尊像であります。その昔、照連手道祖（てれんてくだうそ）、八百代の帝・傾城天王（けいせいてんのう）の御時に、なまず大尽（なまずだいじん）の松しや焼けの八（やんはち）と申す者が、この尊像に篤く帰依し、昼夜歩みを運べども、ご利益なきを、憤りたたらを踏ませて、お歯黒飛べ（おはぐろとぶへ）と投げ込みしを、若い者がとんだ度仕舞（どしまつ）、ようやく引き上げ申し上げて、背中におぶい申し上げ、のろまの国・花げ村なるお客さん、金惚れ地部（かねぼれじぶ）へ連れ参らせ、しばし仮寝のご縁、浅からず。これによって、このたび山の宿・聖天町をお仮宿としてご開帳し申し上げ、凡夫結縁のために御扉を開き、煩悩菩提を如意々々とお養（？）し申し上げるものなり。ひとたび拝するともがらは、太平の地震を揺らせ、かつぎを散じ、未来は必ず秘訣八十のうてなで暮らし、有頂天へ昇りて万歳楽・寝の楽しみに、自由妙の鼻毛を伸ばすこと疑いなし。ご信心のお方は、一文持って、どこへ回られましょう。

**[Box Title: The Sacred Damaged Image of the Naida Nyorai (Tear Tathāgata)]**
**[Side note: Displayed for fifty days at Yama-no-shuku Shōten-chō / Under the auspices of Uchōten (Ecstasy Hall)]**

Now then, to humbly explain the matter at hand: this is the principal sacred image of Zenkōji Temple in the province of Shinano — the Naida Nyorai (Tear Tathāgata), transmitted from the northern lands, fashioned of the finest purple-tinged gold. Long ago, in the time of the eight-hundred-generation emperor known as "Tereente Kudauso" and the "Keisei Tennō" (Emperor of the Courtesan Quarter), a man called Namazu Daijin's Matsuya Yake no Yanhachi became deeply devoted to this sacred image. Yet, despite walking day and night to pay his respects, he received no divine benefit. In his frustration, he stamped his feet in fury and hurled the image, crying "Fly away, blackened teeth!" whereupon a young man, in quite the mess of a situation, managed at last to pull it out of the water and carry it upon his back. The image was then brought to a certain guest — one "Kaneboroji" — in Hanage Village in the Province of Noroma, where they shared a brief night's lodging, forging a bond of no small significance. For this reason, on this occasion, the temple quarters have been borrowed at Yama-no-shuku Shōten-chō for a public display (kaichō), and the sacred doors have been opened for the benefit of common people seeking a karmic connection. The煩悩 (earthly desires) and bodhi (enlightenment) shall be graciously attended to. Those who worship even once shall shake the earth with great serenity, dispel their burdens, and in the future shall assuredly live upon the pedestal of the eighty secret teachings, ascend to the heavenly realm of Uchōten, and enjoy the pleasures of eternal revelry and blissful sleep, freely growing the hairs of their nose without care — of this there is no doubt. Those of devout heart, take but a single coin and come on around!
