**大坂大火 細見**
文久三年（1863年）十一月二十一日、夜の五つ時（午後八時頃）より、新町橋東詰より出火し、西風が激しく吹いたため、東へと次々に延焼し、翌二十二日も火勢が盛んで、二十三日の暁七つ時（午前四時頃）にようやく火が鎮まった。

**A Detailed Account of the Great Osaka Fire**
On the night of the 21st day of the 11th month of Bunkyū 3 (1863), at around the Hour of the Dog (approximately 8:00 PM), a fire broke out at the eastern end of Shinmachi Bridge. Driven by fierce westerly winds, the fire spread rapidly eastward, continuing to burn ferociously through the 22nd, and only finally subsiding at the Hour of the Tiger (approximately 4:00 AM) on the morning of the 23rd.
**Summary of Damage**
Houses destroyed: Approximately 33,500 or more
Storehouses and warehouses: 6,704 locations
Earthen storehouses (dozō) damaged by fire: 684 locations
Shinto shrines: 13 locations
Buddhist halls/temples: 37 locations
Area burned: Approximately 1 ri (roughly 4 km) east to west; approximately 3 ri (roughly 12 km) in circumference
