葉下地草の汁わりくま小緑青うす
くさの知るにで　うき花下地あさぎの具
ぬりゑんじく　上ニこんぜう　極細　
をかく　木の胴木の具すみか　　
黒くま苔びやくろく草の汁入れとりご
ふんにてほしを　　くべし

現代語訳

桐
葉の下地は草の汁を薄く塗り、熊胆と小緑青を薄く
草の色になるまで塗る。浮き出た花の下地は浅葱の絵具で
塗り、胭脂で暈す。その上に紺青を極細に
描く。木の幹は木の絵具か墨で
黒く暈し、苔は白緑と草の汁を入れて、胡粉を取り
混ぜて干すべし。

Paulownia
For the undercoat of the leaves, apply grass juice thinly, then apply bear bile and malachite green thinly until it becomes the color of grass. For the undercoat of the prominent flowers, apply light blue pigment and shade with rouge. On top of this, paint with Prussian blue very finely. For the tree trunk, use wood pigment or ink to shade it black. For the moss, mix white-green and grass juice with gofun (white pigment) and let it dry.
