時は安政三年(辰年)八月二十五日夜、 五つ半時頃(午後九時頃)より南東の風が激しく吹き、まず 日本橋南方では品川宿の大半が損傷し、南 品川は全滅、芝浦町は出水で津波のように 全て流され、沖にある大船五十艘程が行方不明となった。 お台場は少々損傷し、それから高輪辺りは 言うまでもなく、三田辺り、田町辺りも大いに損傷し、それから芝浦も また津波で大半が被害を受け、薩摩様の銅造りの大船が 芝浦に打ち上げられた。金杉橋辺り、新網町辺りの 海沿い一帯は全て、大船十艘程が打ち上げられた。 出火の場所は片門前一丁目より神明前まで 全焼し、神明町の片側で火は止まった。 大久保様、森様、新銭座も大半が損傷し、 大小の船は数知れず打ち上げられた。御浜御殿、築地の 海辺は大半が損傷し、西本願寺の本堂は打ち潰れ、 寺中は大損傷し、裏門前へ大船が打ち上げられた。鉄砲洲 辺り一帯、佃島は大いに損傷し、霊岸島辺りでは 永代橋に大船が当たり、中程から大きく崩れて通行止めとなった。 この船の標柱は田安様の御屋敷へ流れ着き、艫の所は 安藤様の御門前へ打ち上げられた。御長屋は大崩れし、その辺りに 茶船十艘程が打ち上げられた。それから深川海辺は津波で 大損傷し、仮宅や遊女屋が大崩れし、「大の屋」という遊女屋は 完全に潰れた。洲崎辺り、木場辺りも全滅し、また御船蔵も 二ヶ所損傷し、その外本所辺りは出水が多くて大損傷した。 また北の方では神田辺り全て、馬喰町、両国辺り共に被害を受け、 浅草御蔵前通り、観世音の御堂は無事であったが、 御山内は全て損傷した。矢大臣門外の松田屋という遊女屋は 全潰し、花川戸辺り、山谷辺り、芝居町は三座共に 大損傷した。千住辺りも全滅し、また西の方では 丸の内の諸大名家が一円打ち崩れ、下谷辺りも 全て被害を受けた。出火場所は坂本辺りで、吉原内も焼け、本 郷辺り一円、白山辺りも大損傷し、その外 山の手辺りは全滅した。右の外、市中一円が損傷した。

The time was the night of August 25th, Ansei 3rd year (Year of the Dragon), from around 5:30 (approximately 9 PM), fierce southeast winds began to blow, and first south of Nihonbashi, most of Shinagawa post station was damaged, while South Shinagawa was completely destroyed. Shiba-ura town was flooded like a tsunami, everything was swept away, and about fifty large ships offshore went missing. Odaiba sustained some damage, and then the Takanawa area needless to say, the Mita area and Tamachi area were greatly damaged, and then Shiba-ura was also devastated by the tsunami, with the Satsuma domain's large copper ship washed ashore at Shiba-ura. Around Kanasugi Bridge and Shin-ami town, the entire waterfront area had about ten large ships washed ashore. The fire broke out from Katamonzen 1-chome to Shinmei-mae, burning everything, and stopped at one side of Shinmei town. Then the Fukagawa waterfront suffered major damage from the tsunami, temporary buildings and pleasure quarters collapsed greatly, and a pleasure house called "Ōnoya" was completely destroyed. The Susaki area and lumber yards were completely destroyed, and two locations of the government shipyards were also damaged. Additionally, the Honjo area suffered major damage from extensive flooding. Also in the north, all of Kanda area, Bakuro-cho, and Ryōgoku area were damaged, while Asakusa Okura-mae street and Kannon Hall remained safe, but all of the sacred mountain grounds were damaged. A pleasure house called Matsudaya outside Yadaijin gate completely collapsed, and Hanakawado area, Sanya area, and the theater district with all three theaters suffered major damage. The Senju area was also completely destroyed, and in the west, all the daimyo residences in Marunouchi collapsed, and the Shitaya area was entirely damaged. Fire broke out in the Sakamoto area, Yoshiwara was also burned, and Hon- gō area entirely, Hakusan area suffered major damage, and besides that the Yamanote area was completely destroyed.
