クロセ川ト云幅二十余町有テ大急流也
一文字ニハ舟乗切ガタシ大ニ心得アルコト
也都テ夏秋舟乗易ク。冬春舟乗
ガタシ。又志摩国鳥羽ヨリ南ノ沖ヘ乗
出シテ東スレバ海路甚易シト云リ
現代語訳
クロセ川という川があり、幅が二十町余りもあって大変な急流である。真っ直ぐに舟で渡り切るのは困難で、十分に心得が必要なことである。全体的に夏と秋は舟での航行が容易だが、冬と春は舟での航行が困難である。また志摩国鳥羽より南の沖へ乗り出して東に向かえば海路は甚だ容易であると言われている。

There is a river called Kurose River, which is over twenty chō wide and has very rapid currents. It is difficult to cross straight across by boat, and great skill and knowledge are required. Generally, boat navigation is easy in summer and autumn, but difficult in winter and spring. It is also said that if one sails out to the waters south of Toba in Shima Province and heads east, the sea route becomes quite easy.
