計算法：長さ三十間の中から横十四間を引くと、残りが十六間ある。これに十四間を掛けると二百二十四坪になる。これを別に取っておく。また、十四間を縦横に掛けると百九十六坪になる。これに円の計算法七九を掛けると百五十四坪八分四厘となる。これを先ほど別に取っておいた数に加えると三百七十八坪八分四厘になる。これを田の計算法三で割ると一反二畝十八歩八分四厘と分かる。

Method: Subtract the width of 14 ken from the length of 30 ken, leaving 16 ken. Multiply this by 14 ken to get 224 tsubo. Set this aside. Next, multiply 14 ken by itself (length × width) to get 196 tsubo. Multiply this by the circle method 0.79 to get 154 tsubo 8 bu 4 rin. Add this to the number set aside earlier to get 378 tsubo 8 bu 4 rin. Divide this by the field method 3 to obtain 1 tan 2 se 18 bu 4 bu 4 rin.
