此漫画世に行はれしより書肆のためには
大福もち猶あたゝかなる炉ひらきのそれはゐの子
ねの子の餅みつがひとつのそれならでみツを
ふたつの六編に至りて予が序を乞ふこはれて
是を餅につきしが口から出るまゝ筆に
まかせて餅好の酒きらひ下戸の食山人

摩詰李思訓も天窓を描くのが得意であったであろう。さて、
この漫画が世に広まって以来、書店にとっては
大福餅のように利益をもたらし、まだ暖かい炉開きの季節、それは亥の子、
子の日の餅を三つ合わせたひとつのようなもので、それだけでなく、三つを
二つにした六編に至って、私に序文を求めてきた。これを餅に例えて言うと、口から出るままに筆に
任せて書いた。餅好きで酒嫌いの下戸である食山人が
文宝堂で記す。

Wang Wei and Li Sixun must have also been skilled at painting skylights. Now,
since these manga became popular in the world, for booksellers they have been
like big fortune rice cakes, and in the still-warm season of opening the hearth, that is like the boar day and
rat day rice cakes combined into one, and not only that, but with three made into
two, reaching the sixth volume, they requested a preface from me. Comparing this to rice cakes, whatever comes from the mouth, I leave it to the brush
to write freely. Written by Shokusan-jin, a lover of rice cakes and hater of sake, a teetotaler,
at Bunpōdō.
