急以飛脚致啓達候廿四日夜大地震二而宿内出火致し
一時二連火及致御㚑屋向御殿御宝蔵惣而動潰し何二而も
無残焼失仕候御寺領不残潰ㇾ町家旅人共死人数難斗御家
來之内連心寺順道須田昌作并孫両人西川夫婦市弥即死
私共方二而も子孫并家来死去仕候私儀は漸々命助候而巳二而立
候儘二而御座候御什物御宝蔵は不及申諸書物諸帳面類持
出候間も無之悉く焼失仕候乍去御霊屋御安置御尊牌は辛し
て持出無御恙御守護仕候間此段は御安心可被下候今以鎮火不仕一同
愁傷斗二御座候未死亡人数其外騒動之儀慥成事は相訳り不
申尚委細之は飛脚ゟ御聞取可被下候早々以上

信州善光寺から江戸青山善光寺への文通 写し
急ぎ飛脚をもって申し上げます。二十四日夜の大地震により、宿内で出火し、一時に連続して火が燃え広がり、御廟所関係の御殿、御宝蔵、すべてが倒壊し、何もかも無残に焼失いたしました。寺領は残らず潰れ、町家や旅人たちの死人数は数え切れません。御家来のうち、連心寺順道、須田昌作並びに孫二人、西川夫婦、市弥が即死いたしました。私どもの方でも子孫並びに家来が死去いたしました。私はかろうじて命だけは助かりましたが、立っているのがやっとという状況でございます。御什物や御宝蔵は申すまでもなく、諸書物、諸帳面類を持ち出す間もなく、すべて焼失いたしました。しかしながら、御霊屋に御安置の御尊牌は辛うじて持ち出し、御無事に御守護いたしましたので、この点は御安心くださいませ。今もって鎮火せず、一同愁傷ばかりでございます。まだ死亡人数その他騒動の件について確かなことは分かりません。なお詳細については飛脚からお聞き取りください。取り急ぎ以上。
