After performing a single bow side by side, they lined up facing south. At that time, the negi group presented the u-no-tsue (felicitous staff made of catalpa wood), followed by the hafuri group presenting theirs. The empty trays and small round mats were cleared away immediately. The Kifune Shrine hafuri, Yasutora, hung (the u-no-tsue) on the railing (kōran), after which the sudare (bamboo blinds) were lowered. Next, following the same procedure as at the beginning, the ujigami hafuri and the others performed a single bow at the doi (earthen platform) two persons at a time, then returned to their seats and lined up facing north. The Azukari Dayū then came and handed over the sacred key (omikagi), which was received. Beginning from the most senior-ranked person, they rose from their seats in order and proceeded toward their respective shrines. The route taken was the same as on New Year's Day. The ujigami negi deputy, Shiken, the hafuri deputy official, Keisen, and the tensho (transfer offerings) head person, Yasuō, accompanied them. At the Ujigami Shrine, the negi, tensho officials, and others took their seats, while the hafuri advanced directly and performed a single bow at the doi and the ōyuka (great floor/dais), with the shoe-bow performed in the customary manner. After signaling toward the haiden (worship hall), the sacred doors were opened, each person shifted their position and prostrated. Then the hafuri took their seat in the haiden, and next the negi advanced into the inner sanctuary (naijin), presented the u-no-tsue, and performed the bowing and saluting in the customary manner. However, the u-no-tsue for both left and right sides were bound together and presented as one. The御 chest (mihitsu) was cleared away immediately by the tensho official. The negi returned to their seat. Note that at Sawada Shrine, Ujigami Shrine, and similar shrines, because the inner sanctuary is narrow, this step is omitted in every divine rite—it is the established custom that both officials (negi and hafuri) do not enter the inner sanctuary, and each performs the duty individually. Next, both officials performed two bows.
They recited the norito (ritual prayers) in two sections; the tensho official, while remaining seated, responded at the time of the ritual handclapping (kashiwade). Then the hafuri advanced and performed the bowing salutations in the customary manner, performed a single bow at the ōyuka, signaled toward the haiden, the sacred doors were closed, and each person shifted their position and prostrated. With this concluded, they withdrew. I (the author) alone ascended the shrine buildings, passing through the First and Second Torii, and brought back the hafuri's u-no-tsue. Since the Azukari, Tsunatada, had already withdrawn, the sacred key was returned to the sato-tei (the Azukari's residential office). After this was concluded, the return home was at around the midpoint of the tatsu (辰) hour (approximately 8 a.m.).

The Fourth Day (Tsuchinoe-tatsu / 戊辰). Clear skies. Concerning the chōhan (庁飯, the administrative hall meal): due to an impediment (故障) on the part of the deputy, Nakawake, Yasunori's representative, (the meal) was provided by Yasuaki instead.

The Sixth Day (Kanoe-uma / 庚午). Clear skies. At dawn, the Hakuba (White Horse) divine rite. Due to the vacancy in the post (ketsushoku), I (the author), as ujigami hafuri, was supposed to be in attendance. However, since the Omahiki (御馬牽, official who leads the white horses) was to attend, I suddenly transferred (与奪, assigned/relinquished) the duty to Kiishiki today, and immediately sent word to that effect to the shōji official, Kenkei. The details are as follows: since the records of Kiyotari, the shōjin-gashira, contained no entry regarding the Omahiki's role, I had been prepared to take the seat (in the order of precedence). However, at around the saru hour today (approximately 4 p.m.), I was informed by Seikyu (Kiyokaya) of the established arrangement, and upon investigation, it became clear that this was an annual practice. Therefore, the transfer of duty was carried out at the last moment in this manner. This was an exceedingly careless oversight (不勘の至り).
