【資料タイトルに「柳さる」とあるが、実際には「柳たる＝柳樽」で、そのようなタイトルで刊行されつづけた川柳集のことを言う。右の川柳がそこから抜粋されたものか、陶器をすべて瀬戸物というような方式で柳樽と名付けたのかは不明。】

ほねつぎもねつぎも
　はやる大じしん

しよくにんはなまづて
　うまいさけをのみ

なまけものはては
　ゆすりとなりけらし

いたぶつてしかりてのない
　おゝぢしん

よしはらでみを
　はたすのはくろうにん

としよつたいへは
　まるたのつへをつき

はじめたじしん
　なまづめにじやまをされ

こにあまいおや
　ぬらくらにいたぶられ

**どうけ柳たる（道化柳樽）**

骨継ぎも寝継ぎも
　流行る大地震

職人はなまずで
　旨い酒を飲み

怠け者は果ては
　ゆすりとなりけらし

板ぶつて叱る者のない
　大地震

吉原で身を
　果たすのは苦労人

年寄った家は
　丸太の杖をつき

始めた地震
　なまず目に邪魔をされ

子に甘い親
　ぬらくらにいたぶられ

[Note on the title: Although the title of the source material reads "Yanagisaru," it actually should be "Yanagidarū" (柳樽, "Willow Barrel"), referring to a long-running series of published senryū collections. It is unclear whether the verses here were excerpted from that collection, or whether the name "Yanagidarū" was applied in the same general way that all pottery tends to be called "Setomono."]

*Slamming boards, with no one left to scold—*
*what a great earthquake!*

*Those who wear themselves out*
*at the Yoshiwara — now those are hardworking souls.*

*The aged house*
*walks with a crutch of rough-hewn logs.*

*The earthquake that had only just begun*
*was thwarted by the catfish's meddling eye.*

*The parent who spoils their child*
*is tormented in turn by that slippery creature.*
