心服ノ一物 居所(イト)ヲ知テ勝負ヲ分ル故ニ伯楽ニ譬テ云ヘルナリ
投手業之理解
相手有テ立ツ其心気ハ流ルヽ水ヲ留弓ノ弦ヲ切放シタル如クニ此意味
堪忍シテ腹一図ニナル時ハ一物居所ニ有ニ依テ業鋭ニシテ白釼ヲ振フカ如ク
是皆心気修ルカ故ナリ惣テ業皆心ノナス処故ニ行事勝負ヲ見ルコト
目ニアラス心手足ニ通スルヲ知ルト云然ル故ニ形ヨリ心ノ生スル早シ故ニ
見ルハ遅ク知ルハ早シ第一ノ伝授也譬ハ体規矩ニ則(ノツトル)ト云ハ毛筋程
モ不曲人〻ノ得手有ト云トモ釣合ヨク上手ノ活シ立花ノ如ク也又
我手ヲ相手ノ脇ノ下ヘ入ルヲ差手ト云又片手ノ臂ヲ我腹ヘ付相手
ノ肘ヲソツト押へ左ヲサス時ハ左サシ右ヲスケ手ト云又足ニ差足助足
ト云惣テ差手助手トモニ腕首ヲ和ラカニ親指ト臂ニ力ヲ入ル心持也
此意味ハ数多シト云トモ皆得手ニ傾ク気筋勝負ノ理解ハ我腹ニ的

心服の一物、居所を知って勝負を分かつ故に、伯楽に譬えて言えるなり。
投手業の理解
相手ありて立つ。その心気は流るる水を留め、弓の弦を切り放したるが如くに、この意味堪忍して腹一図になる時は、一物居所にあるに依って業鋭くして白剣を振るうが如く、これ皆心気修むるが故なり。
総じて業は皆心のなす処、故に行司勝負を見ることは目にあらず、心が手足に通ずるを知ると云う。然る故に形より心の生ずる早し。故に見るは遅く、知るは早し。第一の伝授なり。
譬えば体規矩に則るというは、毛筋ほども曲がらず、人々の得手ありといえども、釣り合いよく上手の活け花の如くなり。また我が手を相手の脇の下へ入るを差し手と云い、また片手の臂を我が腹へ付け、相手の肘をそっと押さえ、左を差す時は左差し、右を助け手と云う。また足に差し足助け足と云う。総じて差し手助け手共に腕首を和らかに、親指と臂に力を入る心持ちなり。
この意味は数多しといえども、皆得手に傾く気筋。勝負の理解は我が腹に的ありて、取り者は負けを知り勝ちを知る。その的は稽古の妙術故に、稽古怠る時は的なし。四つ身は手足共に前に記すが如くなり。上手の肘に力を入れ助け足を釣り込んで割り付ける。相手曲がって我は直き故に、手を延ばさず廻して取る。これは名術にして意味多し。
これを物に譬えて言わんに、動いて心を乱さんより、動かずして心を治めんは何ぞや。また行くべからざる事に臨んで行きて義に違わんより、行かずして然も道に叶わんは宜しからずや。此処に心を潜め自ら知るべし。また小兵たりとも大兵に等しく、ただ和やかに丈夫に見る。これを塩梅と云う。
総じてこの意味を弁えて見る時は、人の気位真剣の勝負故に明らかなり。業の形また取り組みの形、縛って記してはその意味届かず。書き記せども文をなすこと能わず。此の所は皆懇望の人々自得せらるべき所なり。四つ身にて上手廻しを取って同上手の足を

Understanding the Principles of Wrestling Techniques
When facing an opponent and standing, the mental energy is like holding back flowing water or releasing a bowstring. When one endures this meaning and becomes single-minded in resolve, having one thing in its proper place, the technique becomes sharp like wielding a white blade - this is all because the mental energy is cultivated.
In general, all techniques are what the mind produces, so when referees observe matches, it is not with the eyes, but they know that the mind communicates with the hands and feet. Therefore, the mind arises faster than form. Thus seeing is slow, knowing is fast. This is the first transmission.
For example, when the body follows proper rules, it does not bend even a hair's width. Though each person has their specialty, when well-balanced, it is like a master's skillful flower arrangement. Also, putting one's hand under the opponent's armpit is called sashi-te (inserting hand). Also, placing one arm against one's belly and gently pressing the opponent's elbow - when inserting on the left, it's called left-sashi, and the right is called suke-te (assisting hand). Also, for feet there are sashi-ashi (inserting foot) and suke-ashi (assisting foot). In general, both sashi-te and suke-te involve keeping the wrist flexible while putting strength into the thumb and upper arm.
Though these meanings are numerous, they all tend toward one's specialty. Understanding victory and defeat means having a target in one's belly, and the wrestler knows defeat and knows victory.
