千早振る神代の昔、天照大神より織り染めを賜った機織物は、幾世代にもわたって積み重ねられた織り出しの道筋が正しく、根本は乱れることなく末端まで整って、めでたい御代の手業として糸の長い世の手本を引く。女子どもが手習いする繭の取り扱いや蚕飼い育ての概要を知らない人の参考にもなるであろうかと、三十七ヶ条の口伝を書き連ね、前後に蚕の威徳を並べ、ついに「蚕飼養法記」と

Since the ancient age of the gods when Chihayafuru, the textile arts of weaving and dyeing bestowed by Amaterasu Omikami have been accumulated over many generations. The path of weaving remains straight and true, with its foundation undisordered and extending orderly to the end, serving as an exemplar for all ages of the auspicious handiwork of this blessed imperial reign. Thinking this might serve as a foundation for those who do not know the basics of handling cocoons and rearing silkworms—skills that young women learn—I have written down thirty-seven articles of oral tradition, arranging before and after the virtuous power of silkworms, and have titled this work "Record of Silkworm Rearing Methods"
