蘇門答刺（すまんだら）【「蘇門」の左ルビ「そもん」】は或（あるひ）はさまだらともいふ呱哇国（しやわこく）の北にある
島国也是も大熱国にて人物風俗賎く国主なく面々
に地を領（りやう）して争（あらそ）はず此国金銀を産（さん）すといへとも民
多く取ことをせす偶（たま〳〵）金塊（きんくわい）を得（う）ることあれは旅人に
交易（かうゑき）すといふ 南北の両極星を見る又此国の東に
浡泥国（ぶるねるこく）あり人物風俗相同く常熱の国也故に別に

現代語訳
スマトラ（すまんだら）は、あるいはサマダラとも呼ばれ、ジャワ国の北にある島国である。ここも大変暑い国で、人々や風俗は品位が低く、国主がおらず、各々が土地を支配しているが争いはない。この国は金銀を産出するというが、民衆は多くを採取しようとしない。たまたま金塊を得ることがあれば、旅人と交易するという。南北の両極星を見ることができる。またこの国の東にブルネイ国があり、人々や風俗は似ており、常に暑い国である。そのため別に記載しない。ジャワ、スマトラ、ブルネイなどはメガラニカに近い。

Sumatra (Sumandara), also called Samadara, is an island nation north of Java. This too is a very hot country where the people and customs are of low quality, there is no sovereign ruler, and each person rules their own territory without conflict. This country is said to produce gold and silver, but the people do not seek to mine much of it. When they occasionally obtain gold nuggets, they trade them with travelers. Both the northern and southern pole stars can be seen. Also, to the east of this country is Brunei, where the people and customs are similar, and it is a constantly hot country. Therefore, it is not described separately. Java, Sumatra, Brunei and others are close to Megaranica.
