春蚕尓害阿り引目たら下抜以後は切桑よろし
△蚕尓忌多し二便の臭ひ未申の風西照る日湿葉
熱葉鳥の糞付くる葉／鰮（うなき）を焼大豆を／煮（にる）臭ひ
香の類煤気椿の油／苣菜（ちさな）食して蚕屋へ入扁
からず近処尓も植べからず薪も香ひ有る木中尓も／朴（ほうの木）
杦の類焚へからず桑の葉を焼除べし装惣して不浄
を禁春べし此外蚕の事諸家の善論多し予
著す桑蚕拡要尓詳尓春此編只其一二を綴る
那り然連共此／育飼（そたてかう）の法を本として多年蚕を養
はゞ自然と功者尓成りゐふべし

べし。その弁えなく黄色の時に厚く掛けにすれば、桑の無駄のみならず蚕に害あり。縮み立ったら下抜き以後は切り桑がよろし。
△蚕に忌むべきもの多し。二便（大小便）の臭い、未申の風、西照る日、湿った葉、熱い葉、鳥の糞付く葉、鰯を焼く臭い、大豆を煮る臭い、香の類、煤気、椿の油、萵苣菜を食べて蚕屋へ入るべからず。近い所にも植えるべからず。薪も香りある木の中にも朴の木、杉の類は焚くべからず。桑の葉を焼き除くべし。総じて不浄を禁ずべし。
この外、蚕のこと諸家の善論多し。予が著す『桑蚕拡要』に詳しくす。この編はただその一二を綴るなり。しかれどもこの育飼の法を本として多年蚕を養えば、自然と功者になりえるべし。

This should be done. If you apply mulberry thickly when they are yellow without understanding this principle, it will not only waste mulberry but also harm the silkworms. Once they shrink and stand up, cut mulberry is good after bottom removal.
△There are many things that silkworms abhor: the smell of human waste, winds from the southwest direction, western sunlight, wet leaves, hot leaves, leaves with bird droppings, the smell of burning sardines, the smell of boiling soybeans, incense and fragrances, soot, camellia oil. One must not enter the silkworm house after eating lettuce. Such plants should not be planted nearby either. Among fragrant firewoods, magnolia and cedar types should not be burned. Mulberry leaves should be burned for disposal. In general, all impurities should be forbidden.
Beyond this, there are many excellent theories from various houses regarding silkworms. I have detailed these in my work "Sōsan Kakuyō" (Essentials of Mulberry and Silkworm Cultivation). This compilation merely strings together one or two of those points. However, if one raises silkworms for many years based on these rearing methods, one will naturally become skilled.
