仍而私共連判御請書指出申所相違無御坐候以上

○【朱】五 於江戸旧臘在符【ママ】御家中へ被仰出御候趣
天保五午年三月十一日写
當年関東筋不作ニ付而ハ御家中之面々倹約
心得向之義者先達而被仰出候事ニ候所此頃ニ至奥
羽筋之様子追々相聞稀成ル飢饉之趣当御地之義も
市中等別而難渋之所兎角米價高直ニ有之候得共
御家中之面々者頂戴物も例よりハ多乍併奥
羽之様子且世上之趣等見聞候而者中々以容易ニ米
金費可申時會ニハ決而無之
公邊ゟも厚其筋御取究被 仰出候趣ニも候へハ猶
更後年之取續専ニ相考新穀ニ至迄大切ニ
取扱度事ニ候勿論孰も一己之義ハ無油断相心懸
へき事ニ候得共右召仕等下々ニ至候而ハ身分之程ヲ

なお油断なく時々心を付け、いよいよもって御趣意通り堅く相守るべく申し候。
よって私ども連判の御請書を差し出し申すところ、相違ございません。以上

当年関東筋が不作につきましては、御家中の面々倹約心得向きの義は先達って仰せ出されたことでございますが、この頃に至り奥羽筋の様子が追々聞こえ、稀なる飢饉の趣、当御地の義も市中等別して困窮のところ、とかく米価が高値にございますが、御家中の面々は頂戴物も例年よりは多いながら、奥羽の様子ならびに世上の趣等を見聞きしては、なかなかもって容易に米金を費やすべき時節では決してございません。
公辺からも厚くその筋をお取り究められ仰せ出された趣にもございますので、なおさら後年の取り続きを専らに相考え、新穀に至るまで大切に取り扱いたく存じます。もちろん誰もが一己の義は油断なく心懸けるべきことでございますが、右の召使い等下々に至っては身分の程を

Regarding this year's crop failure in the Kanto region, instructions about frugality for all retainers were issued some time ago. However, recently we have been hearing about the situation in the Oshu and Dewa regions, indicating an unprecedented famine. In our local area as well, the townspeople are particularly suffering, and rice prices are quite high. Although the retainers receive more stipends than usual, considering the situation in Oshu and Dewa and the general state of affairs we observe, this is certainly not a time when rice and money should be spent carelessly.
The government authorities have also thoroughly investigated these matters and issued directives accordingly, so we must especially consider future sustainability and handle [provisions] carefully until the new harvest arrives.
