をめしていとま申てみな人はつらけれともなん
ちはかりは人之かたみおもへはなこりをしくこそ
おほゆれしゆつけせさしんさきに人にかたるへから
すちきりしこと〳〵しよきやうてんへ参れかへす
〳〵もなんちはいかならん世まてもわするましい
とま申とておのかひぬおといは見をくり参らせて
人めにつゝむなみたのおそふるそてにあまるをさ
らぬやうにもてなしてあやしの
ふしとにかへりてなくより

現代語訳
そして最後の見納めとなってしまった。既に出立なさる時、弟を呼んで暇乞いを申し上げて、「皆の人は辛く思われるでしょうが、私だけは人の形見と思えば、名残惜しくこそ思われます。出家をなさいましたら、真っ先に人に語るべきではありません。必ず秘密にしてください。」と様々なことを申し上げて、「しょうきやうでん（？）へ参りましょう。重ねて申し上げますが、私はどのような世になっても忘れることはありません。」と暇乞いを申し上げて、自分の居場所に帰った。弟は見送り申し上げて、人目を憚る涙が袖からあふれるのを、さりげないように振る舞って、あやしの（？）
古びた庵に帰って泣くより

And this became the final farewell. When it was already time for departure, he called his younger brother to bid farewell, saying, "All the people will find this painful, but I alone, thinking of you as a keepsake of a person dear to me, find this deeply moving and regrettable. When you become a monk, you must not speak of this to anyone first. You must keep it absolutely secret." He said various things like this, then continued, "I shall go to shōkyōden (?). I say again, no matter what kind of world this becomes, I will never forget." After bidding farewell in this way, he returned to his own quarters.
