陳元贇（ちんげんひん）寓居の跡《割書：桑名町通袋町の北にある良学院の辺りに住居し、また九十軒町にも寓居した》元贇は明の虎林県の人であるが、明朝末期の乱を避けて日本に来て、国祖君の寵愛を受け、当地に住んだが、寛文十一年六月九日、八十五歳で死去した。深草の元政と俗世を離れた交友を結び、詩文の贈答や唱和集がある。墓は建中寺にあり、碑面に「大明国武林 既白山 広学 陳元贇 寛文十一辛亥年六月九日没」と見え、その傍らに白翁道元の碑がある。これは元贇の子で俗称源太郎の墓で、宝永二年九月二日没と記されている。防丘詩選の詩人爵里の条に「陳元贇 字は義都、別号は既白山人、また芝山升庵等とも称する。明の虎林の人。崇禎中に科挙に落第して江湖に流落し、ついに海を越えて日本に帰化した。後に張藩に仕えた。敬廟の寵愛は特に厚く、寛文十一年六月に卒去、年七十有余。文集があるが未刻」と見える。《割書：卒年七十有余とあるのは誤りである》また拳法秘書に云う

Site of Chen Yuanbin's residence 《Small text: He lived near Ryōgaku-in north of Kuwana-machi-dōri Fukuro-machi, and also resided in Kyūjūken-machi》 Yuanbin was from Hulin County in Ming China. Fleeing the chaos at the end of the Ming dynasty, he came to Japan and received the favor of the founding lord, residing in this domain. He died on the 9th day of the 6th month of Kanbun 11 (1671) at age 85. He formed a friendship beyond worldly concerns with Genpolitsu of Fukakusa, exchanging poems and creating collections of verse. His grave is at Kenchū-ji temple, with the inscription "Great Ming Kingdom Wulin Jibai-zan Kōgaku Chen Yuanbin, died 9th day 6th month Kanbun 11, year of the metal boar." Beside it stands the monument of Hakuō Dōgen, which is the grave of Yuanbin's son, commonly called Gentarō, recorded as having died on the 2nd day of the 9th month of Hōei 2 (1705). In the Bōkyū Shisen poetry collection, under the section on poets' titles and origins, it states: "Chen Yuanbin, courtesy name Gito, also called Jibai-sanjin and Shizan Shōan. A man of Hulin in Ming China. During the Chongzhen era he failed the imperial examinations and wandered the rivers and lakes, eventually crossing the sea to naturalize in Japan. Later served the Zhang domain. The reverent temple's favor was especially deep. Died in the 6th month of Kanbun 11, aged over seventy.
