時は嘉永六年癸丑の年二月二日、昼九つ時（正午頃）、相州小田原御城下の町々をはじめとして、東は田村川辺、厚木、萩野山、中郡、高座郡、綾郡、神戸、大磯宿、中村、金子、鈴川、箕輪、臼井、伊勢原、子易辺、大山辺、大住郡近辺の山々、上村、谷村、岡本、早川、石橋山、二子山、箱根並びに七湯の湯場全て、湯本、畑宿、山中、三ツ谷辺、西は伊豆国熱海辺、三島宿、海尻峠、岩渡峠、駿河国は沼津辺まで、もっとも原宿、吉原宿辺までも相当の響きであった。北は愛甲郡三増川村、この辺りの山々は大いに荒れ、津久井郡青野原、道志川、鼠坂、橋本辺は少し荒れたとのこと。小原辺、関の辺までも大方の響きにて、夜九つ時過ぎまで都合何度ということもわからないほどであったが、大揺れに至ったのは五度にして、ようやく揺れ止まり、諸人安堵の思いをなした。よってこのことを諸国の親類縁者へ知らせるため、一紙に詳しく記す。

This occurred in the 6th year of Kaei, year of the Metal Ox (1853), on the 2nd day of the 2nd month, at the 9th hour of the day (around noon). Beginning with the castle town of Odawara in Sagami Province, the earthquake affected: to the east - the Tamura River area, Atsugi, Hagino Mountain, Naka District, Koza District, Aya District, Godo, Oiso post station, Nakamura, Kaneko, Suzukawa, Minowa, Usui, Isehara, Koyasu area, Oyama area, Osumi District and nearby mountains, Kamimura, Yaimura, Okamoto, Hayakawa, Ishibashi Mountain, Futago Mountain, Hakone and all seven hot spring resorts, Yumoto, Hatajuku, Yamanaka, Mitsutani area; to the west - Atami area in Izu Province, Mishima post station, Umijiri Pass, Iwawatari Pass, and in Suruga Province as far as the Numazu area, including Hara post station and Yoshiwara post station area, all experiencing considerable shaking. To the north, in Aiko District's Mimasu River village, the mountains in this area were greatly disturbed, and in Tsukui District's Aonohara, Doshi River, Nezumizaka, and Hashimoto area experienced some damage. Even the Obara area and Seki area felt significant tremors. The shaking continued until past the 9th hour of night (around midnight), with countless tremors, but there were five major shakes before it finally stopped, bringing relief to all people. Therefore, to inform relatives and acquaintances in various provinces of this event, I record the details on this single sheet.
