Record of Places Affected by the Great Earthquake and Great Tsunami
One: From Osaka to the Shikoku road, Chugoku region, and Kyushu area, earthquakes continued daily without cease for five days from the 4th and 5th to the 8th day. Iyo Province had great earthquakes, around Settsu Province's Sanda castle town, Ikeda and Itami, Harima Province's Akashi castle town suffered great damage, around Himeji and Akō. Around Bizen Province's Tanokuchi and Shimomura, Bitchu Province's Kurashiki and Tamashima, Bingo Province's Onomichi, Tomo, around Fukuyama castle town, around Mihara castle town, Aki Province's Hiroshima and Miyajima. Suō and Nagato provinces, around Buzen Province's Kokura castle town, around Tsurusaki had many collapsed houses. In Bungo Province, about 400 houses collapsed around Funai castle town, 234 houses collapsed at Beppu magistrate's office, and at Tsurusaki. In Kumamoto domain territory there were great earthquakes and great tsunamis, the Hyūga Sea had abnormal tidal movements and the ocean was greatly turbulent. In Hizen and Higo provinces, Nagasaki had 400 collapsed houses, and the Chinese quarter and Dutch quarter suffered great damage. This is recorded here as it is an unprecedented occurrence since ancient times.
