the districts of Kahoku were granted by His Excellency the Taiko, and afterward we took Etchu by our own conquest. In this way, samurai who have worked hard from their youth and risen up should serve with hearts as great as Mount Fuji - such was his gracious opinion.
1. Arisawa Nagasada's marginal note states: The Battle of Moribe was on the thirteenth day of the fifth month of Eiroku 4 (1561). At this time, Lord Toshiie received an increase of 300 kan. According to Heiji's examination of the Jinzen-roku: during Lord Nobunaga's campaign in Mino Province, he still had a stipend of 450 kan. This refers to the Battle of Karumi in Mino in the fifth month of Eiroku 5 (1562). In the same twelfth year, by Lord Nobunaga's command, he inherited the main line of the Maeda family and entered the castle at Arako in Kaito District, Owari Province. He was granted 2,000 kan with the castle, making a total of 2,450 kan including his previous holdings.
Recording from the Jinzen-roku as follows:
1. The Maeda Kuraudo house of 2,000 kan now amounts to approximately 5,000 koku in stipend, as both His Excellency the Dainagon and Bungo have stated.
1. According to Aochi Reikan's genealogy of the main domain: hearing from local people, there are four subordinate villages of Arako, namely Shijoshi, Gojoshi, Nakae, and Gyuryu, with a total rank of 2,450 kan.
According to Tomita Kageshu's investigation of original fiefs: the so-called 2,000 kan in Nagaaki's records, when calculated as 5,000 koku, means that 2,450 kan corresponds exactly to 6,125 koku.
The above constitutes the old traditions of the Maeda family.
1. The Hankan-fu entry on the Maeda family states: Dainagon Toshiie had the childhood name Inuchiyomaru, later changed to Magoshiro. From childhood he served the Oda lord, followed in campaigns, and distinguished himself. In the summer of Koji 2 (1556), Nobunaga's younger brother
