現代語訳
**五大力**
いつまでも家のいつくしみ（愛着）よ、なまなかに（中途半端に）悲しみを思い、たとえ（建物が）崩れ落ちて古びてしまうとしても、天も地も、（この世の）節目の終わりを待て。
なくなってしまいそうな、互いの心の内は塞ぎ込んで、表向きには見せぬ——この大地震（よ）。
さはさりながら（それでもなお）、変わることのないご様子（ふぜい）。
古きことを数え上げ、惜しいものを留めようとするのは、おろかしいことよ。
英語訳
**Godairiki (The Five Great Forces)**
How deep the attachment to one's home, and how half-hearted the grief one feels — even if it crumbles and falls into ruin, wait for heaven and earth to reach the end of their appointed time.
The anguish buried within each heart, ready to be extinguished, is kept hidden beneath a composed exterior — such is this great earthquake.
And yet, even so, their demeanor remains unchanged.
To count up the old memories and foolishly try to hold back what is already lost — how senseless it is.
