日本六十余州はいふもさらなり
朝鮮国まてわかものになし給ふ
豊太閤久吉公の御一代御幼名
猿之助と申されしころ三州矢はき
の橋上梶塚与六と出会をはしめと
して相州小田原せめ目出たく
帰陣のおはりまて五十四場
の大にしき外題を瓢軍談と
いふことしかり

瓢軍談五十四場
一英斎芳艶画 五十四枚続
日本六十余州は言うまでもなく、
朝鮮国まで我が物になし給う
豊太閤秀吉公の御一代、御幼名を
猿之助と申されし頃、三河国矢作
の橋上で梶塚与六と出会いを始めとして、
相模国小田原攻めを目出たく
帰陣の終わりまで、五十四場
の大錦絵、外題を瓢軍談と
言うことである。

The Gourd Military Tales in Fifty-four Scenes
Illustrated by Ichieisai Hōen, a series of fifty-four prints
From the sixty-odd provinces of Japan, needless to say,
to Korea, which was brought under his dominion,
[this depicts] the lifetime of Lord Taikō Hideyoshi, from when
his childhood name was called Sarunosuke, beginning with
his encounter with Kajitsuka Yoroku on the bridge at Yahagi
in Mikawa Province, through to the triumphant
return from the siege of Odawara in Sagami Province—
fifty-four scenes of large nishiki-e prints, with the title
"The Gourd Military Tales."
