一 同月二十二日 御城回りの修復の件について、かねてから伺いを立てて済んでいたが、今度公儀の代替わりにつき重ねて伺いを立てたところ、左の通り老中連名の御奉書が今日渡された

越前国福居城絵図の朱引きの通り、総曲輪の堀二か所を埋めた後の土手の破損した所を繕い、裏土を施したいとの由、その意を得た。連々の通り元の如く修復してよい。恐れながら謹んで申し上げる。

One: On the 12th day of intercalary 8th month, [we] went to the castle to offer congratulations for the Shogun's investiture, presented our respects, and offered a sword and horse substitute.
One: On the 22nd day of the same month, regarding the matter of repairing the castle grounds, although prior inquiry had been completed, due to the recent change of government administration, a renewed inquiry was made. The following official letter from the senior councilors was delivered today:

Regarding the red-lined areas shown in the diagram of Fukui Castle in Echizen Province, we understand your desire to repair the damaged sections of the earthworks after filling in two moats of the outer bailey and to add backing soil. You may proceed with restoration as before, in accordance with established precedent. We humbly and respectfully state this.
