Kiho (季芳) attended, and on this occasion, at the residence of the shrine chief priest (神主), the small hemp wands (komagushi) for the inner sanctuary (naijin) were made by the carpenter Sasuke, while the cords (o) were prepared by both Hoie (保家) and Kiho (季芳) together. Ten pieces in total were made: four were coated with black lacquer, and eight were of plain white wood.
Each measures one shaku two sun in length, and approximately one sun in diameter. The base of the giboshi (擬宝珠, onion-shaped cap) at the top is tied with a fine left-twisted cord, and then approximately one sun below that, it is tied with a fine right-twisted cord. Four sheets of paper are unraveled and hung down as eight-fold streamers (yashide). Of the black-lacquered pieces mentioned above, two are to be placed at the main shrine (Hongu), two at the inner shrine of Kibune (貴布祢奥社), and one each at the branch shrines (tansha) and tutelary deity shrines (ujigami), totaling eight shrines.
In addition, five-colored wands (goshiki no nusa) were prepared for thirty smaller shrines (shōsha): five per shrine, in the colors blue/green, yellow, red, white, and black. The length of the skewers is eight sun. However, the central yellow wand has a skewer measuring one shaku two sun; the same applies to the other smaller shrines.
The five-colored wands for the main shrine are prepared by layering all five colors of paper together to make a single wand.
Item: Before departing for Edo the other day, I searched for [this record] but could not find it; having found it today, I record it here. On the sixteenth day of the second month of Kanei 6 (1629, year of the water-elder rat [mizunoe]), the departure took place, and Matsutakahisa (松高久), the estate manager (zassho) Nagato-no-kami (長門守), Genkyu (玄久), Nagamatsutaifu (長松大夫), and Hoi (保意) paid their respects and each received one set of kosode (小袖, short-sleeved robes) as gifts. This is recorded in detail in the diary of Ujiyuki (氏之).
