今度富野三位神主職可辞退仕由申候ニ付従貴布
祢祝次第転任之儀御伝奏へ可申上旨各江申渡候
処正祝林三位譜代職ニ候間転任仕間敷旨申候
此義元禄十五年権祝闕職之節段々御吟味之上
十月廿一日ニ次第転任仕候様ニ被為仰付候此度も無滞
様ニ被為仰付被下候ハヽ忝可奉存候以上

三位（林氏）の方へ、もし転任が行われないならば御奉行へお断りを申し上げるべきとのことを仰せ遣わされた。福顕（ふくけん）を通じてお申し入れになったところ、「いずれにせよご都合次第であり、もし呼び出されれば罷り出て、お断りを申し上げ、仰せの通りにいたします」との返答であった。

今度、富野三位が神主職を辞退したい旨を申しましたことにつき、貴布祢祝より順次転任を行う件を御伝奏へ申し上げるよう、各位へ申し渡しましたところ、正祝・林三位は譜代の職（世襲の職）であるため転任はできない旨を申しました。この件は、元禄十五年に権祝の職が欠員となりました節に、種々ご吟味の上、十月二十一日に順次転任を行うよう仰せ付けられました先例がございます。今度も滞りなく仰せ付けくださいますれば、ありがたく存じます。以上

A message was sent to the Third Rank (Lord Lin/Hayashi) stating that if the transfer of position were not to proceed, the matter should be reported as a formal refusal to the Magistrate (御奉行). When this was conveyed through Fukken (福顕), the reply came back: "Whatever the circumstances may be, we shall act as it suits you. If we are summoned, we shall appear, present our refusal, and act in accordance with your instructions."

On this occasion, as the Third Rank Tomino has stated his wish to resign from the position of Chief Priest (神主職), we duly notified all parties that we would report to the Imperial Liaison (御伝奏) regarding the matter of successive transfer of positions starting from the Kibune Priest (貴布祢祝). However, the Chief Priest (正祝), Third Rank Hayashi/Lin, has stated that the position is a hereditary one (譜代職) and therefore cannot be subject to a transfer. Regarding this matter of successive transfer, there is a precedent from the twenty-first day of the tenth month of Genroku 15 (1702), when, following a vacancy in the post of Provisional Priest (権祝) and after extensive deliberations, an order was issued for successive transfers to proceed. We would be most grateful if you would be so kind as to issue an order for this to proceed without delay on this occasion as well. Respectfully submitted.
