湯浅では十一月四日朝五つ時から大地震となり、所々で人家が倒壊した。同五日七つ時からまたも大地震が起こり、夕方から大津波により浜辺へ船が多数打ち上げられた。北町、新屋敷、浜町、中町、大小路では人家が流され、死者その他川原辺りの家は残らず流され、死者はおよそ三百人、負傷者は数知れず。広浦では同日同刻の大地震により、千軒の所が四分通り倒壊し、同五日の大津波により残らず流され、家三軒のみが残り、死者はおよそ四百人、負傷者はその数知れず。田辺では同時刻に大地震・大津波で三分通りが倒壊・流失し、残りの七分は出火により残らず焼失した。死者はおよそ三百五十人余り、負傷者はその数知れず。有田、加茂、大崎、藤代、名高、日方、黒江、加田、熊野では、皆大津波の大変事で人家が六分通り以上流失した。藤代から黒江まで大道は白い海のようになり、和歌山城下も大地震・大津波により所々の町々が流失・倒壊した。この他、浦々では大船小船ともに打ち上げられた数は知れず、死者は少々、負傷者は多数であった。

In Yuasa, a great earthquake began at the fifth hour of the morning on November 4th, causing houses to collapse in various places. Another great earthquake occurred from the seventh hour on the 5th, and from evening a great tsunami caused many ships to be washed ashore. In Kitamachi, Shinyashiki, Hamamachi, Nakamachi, and Daishoji, houses were swept away. All houses along the riverbank were swept away, with approximately 300 deaths and countless injuries. In Hiroura, the great earthquake at the same date and time caused four-tenths of the thousand houses to collapse, and the great tsunami on the 5th swept away all but three remaining houses, with approximately 400 deaths and countless injuries. In Tanabe, simultaneous great earthquakes and tsunamis caused three-tenths to collapse and be swept away, while the remaining seven-tenths were completely destroyed by fire, resulting in approximately 350 deaths and countless injuries.
