無神月二日亥上刻大地震江戸表市中土蔵土瓦震落し
建家類焼半潰即死人数多有之尤怪我人其数不知所々ゟ
出火吉原不残浅草田丁猿若丁山の宿正天町花川戸馬道
辺焼失浅草観音堂本御坊無別条駒形辺寺同所
川岸通り新堀迄不残焼上野広小路江三枚橋南詰ゟ出火大川丁
上野丁同明丁肴店摩利支天横丁長者丁新屋鋪迄焼失
下谷池之端茅（カヤ）丁川岸通り焼失北新川壱橋辺ゟ大川端迄焼

神無月（10月）2日、亥の上刻（午後10時頃）に大地震が江戸の市中を襲い、土蔵や屋根瓦が震え落ち、建物は類焼・半壊し、即死者が多数出た。怪我人の数は知れず、各所から火災が発生した。
吉原は残らず焼失。浅草の田町・猿若町・山の宿・正天町・花川戸・馬道辺りも焼失した。浅草観音堂・本御坊は別条なかったが、駒形辺りの寺および同所の川岸通りから新堀まで残らず焼けた。上野広小路へは三枚橋南詰から出火し、大川町・上野町・同明町・肴店・摩利支天横丁・長者町・新屋敷まで焼失した。下谷・池之端・茅町・川岸通りが焼失。北新川・一ツ橋辺りから大川端まで焼けた。深川の森下町・六間堀元町・常盤町辺りは残らず焼失。永代橋東詰から深川中町・一の鳥居まで残らず焼失した。本町・立町辺り残らず、小川町辺りのお屋敷方の多くが焼失した。御丸の内（江戸城内）・大手辺り・桜田辺り・日比谷御門内まで、八代洲川岸辺りのお屋敷方の多くが焼失した。その他にも焼失した場所があるが、筆紙に書き尽くし難い次第である。

**Record of the Great Earthquake and Fires in Edo**
(Year of the Rabbit)
On the 2nd day of the 10th month (Kannazuki), at the upper Hour of the Pig (around 10 p.m.), a great earthquake struck the city of Edo. Storehouses and roof tiles were shaken down, buildings were consumed by fire or half-destroyed, and many people died instantly. The number of injured was beyond count, and fires broke out in various locations.
The Yoshiwara pleasure district was burned to the ground. In Asakusa, the districts of Tamachi, Saruwaka-chō, Yamanoshuku, Shōten-chō, Hanakawado, and Umamichi were burned. The Asakusa Kannon Temple and the Honn'oji Temple escaped unscathed, but temples around Komagata and the riverside road from the same area through to Shimbori burned completely. A fire broke out from the south end of Sanmai Bridge toward Ueno Hirokōji, burning Ōkawa-chō, Ueno-chō, Akemi-chō, Sakanadana, Marishiten Yokochō, Chōja-chō, and Shin'yashiki. Shitaya, Ikenohata, Kaya-chō, and the riverside road were burned. The area from Kitashinkawa and Hitotsubashi to the Ōkawa riverbank was burned. In Fukagawa, Morishita-chō, Rokken-bori Moto-machi, and Tokiwa-chō were entirely destroyed by fire. From the east end of the Eitai Bridge through Fukagawa Naka-chō to the first torii gate, everything burned. Honchō, Tate-chō, and most of the estates around Ogawa-chō were burned. Within the castle grounds (the Maru), the areas around Ōte, Sakurada, inside the Hibiya Gate, and the estates along the Yaesu riverbank were largely destroyed by fire. There were yet more areas that burned, but it is impossible to set them all down in writing.
