我が風俗画報は、爰に第二百号の嘉辰を
迎へむとす。顧るに明治二十二年創めて
本誌を発刊したりしより、爾来幾多の星
霜を経しも、浮世の風波を凌ぎて、あだし
まがつみにも遇はず、累進盛運に向ひた
るは、偏に大方愛読者諸君の厚遇による
ものにして、齢を延ぶる祝月ともいふに、
いともめでたきためしなれば、謹むで祝
意を表し、聊か以て平素の高恩に報むと
の微衷に、古を考へ今の大御代をことほ
ぎ、人生のありとあらゆる、よろづ芽出度
きことゝもを蒐めて之を綴り、風俗慣例
調度の沿革変遷を詳らかにし、完成美装
の一部となし、石版着色摺高尚幽雅また
比ひなき図画数十葉を挿みて、十一月中
旬を期し、発行する処あらむとす、之を繙
けば祥雲油然として棚曳き、錦繍絢爛、誌
面光彩を放ち、瑞靉堂に満たむ。

建築中にあるもの及び布設許可の本免状を下附せられ
たるものは悉皆記載して一も遣すものなし沿線の都邑宿駅
大河道路の如きも亦務めて之を正確にせられたり又本図には日
本鉄道一覧表をも加へたり同表には線路一覧表あり既成鉄
道停車場及哩程表あれば我邦の鉄道線路の如何を知ら
んと欲する者本図を閲覧せは以て一目瞭然たる良図なり江
湖の諸君子速に購読して鉄道の事知るに後れ給はさらん事を
請ふ

我が『風俗画報』は、ここに第二百号という喜ばしい節目を迎えようとしています。思えば明治二十二年に初めて本誌を発刊して以来、長い年月を経てきましたが、世の荒波を乗り越え、思わぬ災難にも遭わず、着実に発展・隆盛へと向かってこられたのは、ひとえに多くの愛読者の皆様の温かいご支援によるものです。長寿を祝う月でもあり、誠にめでたいことと言えましょう。謹んでお祝いの意を表し、わずかながら日頃の深いご恩に報いたいという思いから、古来の故事を踏まえつつ現代の御代を祝い、人生におけるあらゆる目出度いことを集めて綴り、風俗・慣例・調度品の歴史的変遷を詳らかにした、完成度の高い美しい一冊をお届けしたいと思います。石版着色刷りによる高尚で優雅な、比類なき図画数十葉を挿み、十一月中旬を目途に発行いたします。これを開けば、瑞々しい祥雲がたなびき、錦の如く絢爛と輝き、誌面は光彩を放ち、めでたい気配が堂内に満ち溢れることでしょう。

これは以前に許可を得て発売して以来、非常に好評を博し、初版および再版ともにたちまち売り切れ、長らく品切れ状態でありましたが、このたびさらに訂正第四版を発売いたします。本図は、わが国現在の官営・私設にかかる鉄道路線の全体を取り上げ、その位置・方向を明示することを目的としています。したがって、すでに完成している路線はもちろん、建設中のものおよび布設許可の本免状が交付されたものもすべて記載し、一つも漏らすものはありません。沿線の都市・宿場・大河・道路についても、努めて正確に記してあります。また本図には日本鉄道一覧表も加えており、同表には路線一覧表があり、既成鉄道の停車場および哩程（距離）表も掲載していますので、わが国の鉄道路線の状況を知りたい方は、本図をご覧いただければ一目瞭然の良図です。諸賢におかれましては、速やかにご購読いただき、鉄道の知識において後れを取られませぬようお願い申し上げます。

《Celebrating Issue No. 200》
Our Fūzoku Gahō is about to welcome the auspicious milestone of its 200th issue. Looking back, since we first published this journal in Meiji 22 (1889), we have weathered the storms of time and the vicissitudes of the world without meeting with unexpected calamity, steadily advancing toward ever greater prosperity. This is entirely due to the warm support and patronage of our many devoted readers. As this is also a month to celebrate long life, we consider it a most auspicious occasion indeed. We humbly express our congratulations and, in our modest wish to repay the deep kindness we have long received, we shall draw upon historical precedent to celebrate the present imperial reign and gather together all manner of auspicious things in life to compile a beautifully crafted volume. It will detail the historical evolution and changes in customs, practices, and furnishings, and will be a handsomely produced work containing dozens of exquisite, color lithograph illustrations of unparalleled elegance. We aim to publish this around mid-November. Upon opening it, auspicious clouds will seem to drift and billow, brocade-like brilliance will dazzle the eye, the pages will radiate splendor, and an air of good fortune will fill the hall.

Revised new edition of June, Meiji 32 (1899), now including Taiwan railways and an index table.
Since this map was first released with official approval, it has met with extraordinary acclaim, and both the first and second printings sold out immediately. Having long been out of stock, we are now pleased to release the corrected fourth edition. The purpose of this map is to comprehensively present the railway lines currently operated by both government and private railways in our country, clearly indicating their locations and directions. Accordingly, not only completed lines but also those under construction and those for which official construction permits have been granted are all recorded without omission. Cities, post towns, major rivers, and roads along the lines are also recorded as accurately as possible. Furthermore, this map includes a Japanese Railway Index Table, which contains a line-by-line overview, as well as a table of stations and mileage for completed railways. For anyone wishing to understand the state of railway lines in our country, this map provides an excellent and immediately comprehensible reference.
