重被仰出有之候に付而も不容易御苦労被思召猶以文武共致精励候様当春も

為致修行候様被仰出候乍併御時節柄打続候後故稽古道具等自然不任心儀
も可有之哉に付両三年之間為御手当別紙之通被下置候猶委細は御目付可及演説候

現代語訳
○この度の思し召しにより、朱子学を純粋に修める儒者をお求めになりたいという折から、そなたが以前から遊学したいという考えがあると聞いているので、自分の修行も兼ねて上方方面へ出向き、よく尋ねて心当たりの者がいれば、その旨を報告するよう仰せ付けられた。これにより、御合力として金十五両を下し置かれる。

御目付
○この度、泥原新保浦篝山へ大砲台場をお建てになることになったので、三国湊新番所詰めの者にも心得て気を付けるよう仰せ付けられた。もちろん右の趣旨は新保浦役人たちはじめにも同様に仰せ付けられているので、その旨を申し渡すこと。
下領郡奉行
○右同様により、同浦役人たちのうち時々見回りをして気を付けるよう仰せ付けられた。もちろん浦人一同ともども心得るよう申し渡すこと。また三国湊新番所詰めの者へも右の趣旨を仰せ付けられているので、そのように心得るよう、また申し渡すこと。

○御家中の面々は文武のことを怠りなく心がけることではあるが、近頃海防のことについて公辺から厳重にお達しがあるので、なおさら容易でないご苦労をお思いになり、いっそう文武ともに精励するよう当春もご沙汰があったことである。以前から弟子の引き立て方についてはそれぞれにお任せになっていることなので、ますます厚く心配りして引き立て、修行させるよう仰せ出された。しかしながらご時節柄が続いているため、稽古道具などが自然と心に任せないこともあろうかと思われるので、二、三年の間、お手当てとして別紙の通り下し置かれる。なお詳細は御目付が説明するであろう。

○This time, by His Lordship's will, as he wishes to seek scholars who purely practice Zhu Xi Confucianism, and as it has been heard that you have long had the desire to pursue studies abroad, you are ordered to travel to the Kamigata region for your own training as well, make thorough inquiries, and report if you find anyone suitable. For this purpose, fifteen ryō of gold is granted as financial assistance.

○This time, a large artillery battery is to be established at Dorobara Shimbo-ura Kagari-yama, so those stationed at the Mikuni port new guard station are also ordered to be mindful and vigilant. Of course, the same orders have been given to the Shimbo-ura officials and others, so this should be communicated accordingly.
Shimoryō District Magistrate
○For the same reason as above, some of the officials of the same port are ordered to make periodic rounds and remain vigilant. Of course, all the port residents should be informed to be mindful as well. Also, since the same instructions have been given to those stationed at the Mikuni port new guard station, they should be informed to keep this in mind and be notified accordingly.

○Although the members of the household naturally attend to literary and martial arts without negligence, recently there have been strict orders from the authorities regarding coastal defense, so His Lordship considers this no easy burden and has issued instructions this spring that both literary and martial arts should be pursued with even greater diligence. Since the training and advancement of disciples has long been entrusted to each of you, you are ordered to take even greater care in their development and training. However, given the current circumstances that continue, training equipment and such may naturally not be as one would wish, so for the next two or three years, the items listed separately are provided as assistance. Further details will be explained by the Inspector.
