As stated above. Kan'ei 4 (1627), Eleventh Month, Twelfth Day The Kamo Shrine Administrators (社司中) (Marginal note: Between this and the previous entry, it appears that two documents were submitted by the shrine administrators; however, those petitions have not reached this office [i.e., the Court Liaison's office].) Entry: A retained copy submitted by the ujibito side. This is a response to the sixteen-article submission made by the shrine administrators (社司). Memorandum (覚) Entry: Regarding the matter of the posted notice (はりふみ) for the Gon-Hafuri: as Shigeto has already received his formal imperial appointment decree (口宣, kuzen) as Gon-Hafuri, it is no longer appropriate to list him as merely "deputy" (代). Shigemura, however, has not yet received his kuzen appointment, and therefore continues to hold the status of "deputy." Entry: Concerning the shrine administrators' claim that ujibito do not become shrine officials: in the documentary evidence (証文) previously submitted, there are several examples of individuals (from the ujibito) who were appointed to the positions of Negi and Hafuri. If appointments are not permitted on this occasion, the long-established shrine law (先規の社法) will be violated, causing great hardship and confusion to all ujibito. Entry: Of the five deputy officials (代官衆) of Kibune Shrine, Matsushita's younger brother, Shikibu, has continued in his role up through the current year. The remaining four have served on a rotating basis (輪番) among the ujibito, and on the occasion of each shrine ritual throughout the year, they have performed the opening of the sacred doors (御戸開き) and presented offerings within the inner sanctuary (内陣). Entry: The fourteen magistrate officials (奉行) under the Shoshi-Mokudai were, in ancient times, positions held by "aozamurai" (青侍, lower-ranking retainers), who were of lower standing than the ujibito. However, because the shrine's landholdings (社領) are not being administered (知行), there are no aozamurai available. Nevertheless, the ujibito have taken it upon themselves to conduct all manner of shrine rituals and duties. Thereafter, regarding the matter of recording these duties, and in consideration of what may be the will of the deity (神慮), they arranged a rotational system (輪番) to carry out the shrine rituals. Entry: The procedure for revising the posted notices (はりふみ) when shrine administration changes hands. Regarding the Great Deity In [Shirushi Daimyōjin]——
