一、七月二十八日、多賀谷左近三経の父である修理大夫重経は、領地の常陸国下妻で心変わりし、佐竹右京大夫義宣と謀を通じ、加勢を求めて小山の本陣に夜討ちをかけることを計画した。しかし義宣の加勢が遅れたため、修理大夫は催促のために花沢某を水戸（義宣の居城）に派遣したところ、その者の父である源太左衛門が左近に従って小山にいたため、面会のために立ち寄ったという。左近がこれを聞いて源太左衛門に詳しく尋ねたところ、水戸に使者として行き、その帰り道だと答えた。

At Katsuura Castle in Kazusa Province, Uemura Tosa-no-kami Yasutada was stationed, and each was ordered to defend their respective castles and repel Kagekatsu's forces.
One item, date unspecified: During this recent disturbance in the Kamigata region, Toramatsu-sama and Oman-sama were staying in the hostage quarters within Osaka Castle along with Okayama-dono. Therefore, Hideyasu-sama sent Toda Rokubei as a messenger from his camp at Oyama to Osaka, dispatching a secret letter to Sakakibara Rokuemon, who was in attendance there. Subsequently, when Toramatsu-sama developed a fever and might contract smallpox, out of consideration for Hideyori-kyō, Oman-sama conveyed through Masuda Uemon-no-jō Nagamori the desire to move to a residence outside the castle.

One item, July 28th: Tagaya Shuridayū Shigetsune, father of Sakon Mitsune, changed his allegiance at his domain in Shimotsuma, Hitachi Province. He conspired with Satake Ukyōdayū Yoshinobu, seeking reinforcements to plan a night attack on the main camp at Oyama. However, when Yoshinobu's reinforcements were delayed, Shuridayū sent one Hanazawa to Mito (Yoshinobu's castle seat) to urge haste. Since this person's father, Gentazaemon, was serving under Sakon at Oyama, he stopped by for a meeting. When Sakon heard of this and questioned Gentazaemon about the details, he replied that he had gone to Mito as a messenger and was on his return journey.
