秀康様が座を立たれ、庭上をじっと見回しになられたところ、諸人は一同平伏して静かになった。
神君（家康）がお帰りになった後、お側の人々に「今日の相撲は珍しい見物であった。皆も見たであろうか」とお尋ねになられた。皆は追手と順礼の相撲の勝負について評価を申し上げたところ、神君は「そのことではない。秀康様の威風によって庭上の諸人が静まったことに感心したのだ」と仰せになられたということである。
一 十一月二十四日、御国において長光丸様（のちに土佐守、その後但馬守と称す。直良〔初名直久、直輝、成政、直富〕、越前大野を領す）がご誕生された。

When Lord Hideyasu stood up from his seat and looked sternly around the garden where the people were gathered, everyone prostrated themselves and became quiet.
After the Sacred Lord (Ieyasu) returned, he asked his close attendants, "Today's sumo was an unusual spectacle to behold. Did you all see it?" When everyone offered their evaluations of the sumo match between Oite and Junrei, the Sacred Lord said, "That is not what I meant. I was impressed that all the people in the garden became quiet due to Lord Hideyasu's dignified presence."
