一書申入候然者中納言様御遠
行被為成候付而追腹被成御切衆有之
付而近藤登ニ御内書指遣候重而
追腹切被申候者十類共ニ御成敗
可被 仰付由御諚候弥其旨ニ御座候間
其心得可被成候近藤登之介被上候
現代語訳
【右丁】
あるという事をお聞きになりました。
死ぬのは容易だが、その主君を
立てるのは困難であると言われています。もし
そのような意図があるなら、越前は肝
要な土地でありますから、別途手配を
お命じになるでしょう。中納言に忠義を尽くした
者たちは、このようなことがあっては
なりません。もしそのような者がいれば、子孫まで
お取り潰しになるという御意向であります。

越前年寄中宛
本多上野介殿からの書簡
一筆申し上げます。さて、中納言様がご逝去
なされました件につきまして、追腹をお切りになる衆がおりました
ことについて、近藤登之助に御内書をお送りしました。重ねて
追腹を切る者がいれば、一族ともどもお成敗を
お命じになるという御諚であります。いよいよその通りでございますので、
その心得をなさるべきです。近藤登之介が参上いたします。

It has been heard that there are such people.
It is said that dying is easy, but establishing
one's lord is difficult. If there are
such intentions, since Echizen is a vital
territory, separate arrangements shall
be commanded. Those who showed loyalty
to the Chunagon should not engage in
such matters. If there are any such people, even their descendants
shall be abolished according to His Lordship's will.

Letter from Honma Kozuke-no-suke
I write to inform you. Regarding the matter of Chunagon-sama's
passing, concerning those who committed ritual suicide (junshi),
an official letter was sent via Kondo Tonosuke. Furthermore,
if anyone else commits junshi, punishment shall be
ordered upon their entire clan according to His Lordship's decree. This is absolutely the case, so
you should be aware of this. Kondo Tonosuke will come up.
