之紙壱枚并丈木壱本遣之候此紙を板江張
付青葉山見へ候処ニ而右紙之上ニ而磁石を
振り其所之南北すへ置扨筋引十文字之
中すみきりもみの所江丈木之墨筋を
当て見当ニ而青葉山を見通し直ニ右之紙ニ
見通しの通り墨引いたし可被差越候
但青葉山之形を絵書頂上ゟ墨引を引
通し手前ニ下海浦与書付可被差出候
一右下海浦ゟ青葉山不相見候ハヽ其辺之青
葉山見へ候所より見定右みへ候場所之村に
ても山野ニ而も其名を書付候事

紙一枚と丈木（じょうぎ）一本を送ります。この紙を板に張り付け、青葉山が見える場所において、その紙の上で磁石を使って南北の方向を定め、次に十文字の筋引きの中心の墨切りのある場所に丈木の墨筋を合わせて、青葉山を見通し、そのまま紙の上に見通した通りに墨で線を引いて提出してください。
ただし、青葉山の形を絵に描き、頂上から墨線を引き通して、手前（紙の下側）に「下海浦」と書いて差し出すこと。
一、右の下海浦から青葉山が見えない場合は、その周辺で青葉山が見える場所を探してそこから方向を確認し、見える場所の村名または山野の名称を書き付けること。
以上のとおり心得るように。
十一月
一、十二月二日、寒中のご機嫌伺いのため、御使者・海福勘介（定須）を江戸表へ派遣した。御肴一種（するめ）を献上。勘介は本日福井を出立した。
一、同日、江戸において、諸借金・買い掛け等に関する御書付が左の通り出た旨につき、町奉行・郡奉行にも心得させ見置くよう、御目付・荒川助右衛門（正員）へ御家老・芦田右衛門（賢詮）が申し渡した。

One sheet of paper and one measuring rod (jōgi) are being sent to you. Affix this paper to a board, and at a location where Mt. Aoba is visible, use a compass (jishaku) on the paper to determine the north-south orientation. Then align the ink mark of the measuring rod with the center crosshair marked on the paper, sight through to Mt. Aoba, and draw a line in ink directly on the paper along the line of sight, and submit it.
Note: Draw a sketch of the shape of Mt. Aoba, draw an ink line from its summit, and write "Shimomi-ura" at the near end (bottom of the paper) before submitting.
Item: If Mt. Aoba cannot be seen from the said Shimomi-ura, find a nearby location from which Mt. Aoba is visible, confirm the direction from that point, and write down the name of the village or mountain/field from which it is visible.
Please understand and act accordingly.
Eleventh month
Item: On the 2nd day of the 12th month, in order to pay respects during the cold season (kanchū), an envoy, Kaifuku Kansuke (Sadasu), was dispatched to Edo. One variety of fish (dried squid/surume) was presented as a gift. Kansuke departed from Fukui on this day.
Item: On the same day, regarding a written notice issued in Edo concerning various loans, credit purchases, and the like, the Senior Councillor (karō) Ashida Uemon (Kensan) instructed the Inspector (metsuke) Arakawa Sukeemon (Masukazu) to ensure that both the Town Magistrate (machi-bugyō) and the District Magistrate (kōri-bugyō) were made aware of and kept informed of its contents.
