現代語訳
## 大津ぶれぶし
♪ たいそう押しつぶれ、
火事も起きて、
だいたい揺り崩され、
仮住まいの女将（おかみ）さんたちは無事で（まるで）花のよう、
わらじの値は高くなり、
土蔵の鉢巻き（補強材）もみんな震えて、
仰天し、
土は高く積み上げられて、
あら木の板もそのまま直売して金儲け、
職人の手間賃は押さえて取り、
役者たちの困窮の旅（境遇）を売り物にし、
金持ちは施しをして、後世の名をよくしようとしている。

Fires have broken out,
And most things have been shaken to ruin.
The landladies of the temporary lodgings bloom like flowers — safe and sound,
The price of straw sandals has risen sharply,
The reinforcing bands around the earthen storehouses all trembled,
Struck with astonishment,
Soil is piled up high,
And rough-cut planks are sold directly for profit,
Craftsmen's wages are kept down and pocketed by others,
The destitute traveling actors sell their hardship,
And the wealthy give charity, hoping to leave a good name behind.
