〳〵して此桜五代に及ぶとりわき枝葉しげり花の
いろをまし木ぶりうらおもてなく見る人花の姿（すがた）に
日の暮るを惜（おし）む
塩ぎぬの名はふかし／かどつた（角蔦）へこし
わか木の花のさかりをぞ見る

よみたれど此萩の風はうはならぬ所を

…この桜は五代にわたって続いており、とりわけ枝葉が茂り、花の色も鮮やかで、木の姿に表裏なく、見る人は花の美しい姿に日が暮れるのも惜しんでしまうほどである。
塩衣（しおぎぬ）の名は奥深く、角蔦（かどつた）を経てこそ
若木の花の盛りを見ることができるのだ
▲姫荻（ひめおぎ） 近代の名所である。萩の上風（うわかぜ）と歌に詠まれているが、この萩の風は上辺だけでない深みのあるところを賞でられている。まことに手柄と言うべきである。

...this cherry tree has flourished across five generations; its branches and leaves are particularly lush, its blossoms vivid in color, and the tree's form is beautiful from every angle. Those who behold it lament the coming of dusk, so reluctant are they to leave the beauty of the blossoms.
Deep is the name of Shioginu; passing through Kadotsuta,
one may witness the peak of bloom upon the young tree.
▲ Himeogi — A famous place of recent renown. Though "the breeze over the reeds" (萩の上風) has been sung in poetry, it is the deeper, more genuine quality of the breeze here — no mere surface wind — that is celebrated. This truly deserves to be called a fine achievement.
