一此ゆり苦労（くらう）と申者生 得（とく）信濃国（しなのゝくに）生質（なまが）の荘（しやう）
　揺物村 出生（しゆつしやう）にて不 慥（たしか）なるふら附者に付あらまども
　失（うせ）人に相立 異変（いへん）沙汰（さた）へ諸々方々にゆり出し
　申候処めつほう也火災の義は当卯十月二日夜ゟ
　よく三日午の下刻迠と相定困きう人の義は難 渋（じう）無住（むぢう）と
　相きはめ只今御ほどこしとしてさつま芋三俵はしたにてたべ
　中候御救之義は七ヶ所へ御建じま　御 恵（めぐみ）に逢目島（あふめじま）
　可被下候事
一鹿島様御 法度（はつと）の義は申に不及お家の八方相 傾（かたむか）せ申間浦候
　君此者お台（だい）所の女中方の寝息を考へ内証の地震致候歟
　又はゆり逃壁落致候はゝきつとしたるかふばりの丸太を

　道性寺（どうしやうじ）市中まつはたか騒動院（そうどういん）大火に紛れ御座

　若物音がたつきひあわひより瓦（かはら）をふらし候義は

## 地震・方々人逃げ状の事

一、この「揺り苦労」と申す者、生まれつき信濃国「生質（なまが）の荘」、揺物村の出生にて、不確かなるふらふら者につき、あちこちで失踪人として立てられ、異変の沙汰として諸々方々に揺り出し申し候ところ、めっぽうなり。火災の義は当卯年十月二日夜より翌三日午の下刻まで、と相定め、困窮人の義は難渋・無住と相極め、ただ今お施しとして薩摩芋三俵、端（はした）にて食べ申し候。お救いの義は七ヶ所へお建て島、お恵みに逢い目島（あうめじま）くださるべく候事。

一、鹿島様ご法度の義は申すに及ばず、お家の八方を傾かせ申す間敷く候。君、この者、お台所の女中方の寝息を窺い、内証の地震致し候か、または揺り逃げ・壁落ちを致し候わば、きっとしたる鏑（かぶら）りの丸太をもって早速らちを開け申され候。

愁患の義は一蓮托宗にて、寺は夜中揺り開け、坂・道性寺、市中まつはたか騒動院、大火に紛れ御座なく候。ご発動の「揺りしたん宗」にてはこれなく候。

若し物音がたつき、鮑（あわび）より瓦を降らし候義は之無く、万一揺り人しなど致し候わば、我等早速まがり出で、要石を砕きてぎゅうと押さえ付け、野天人宿労さしかけ申す間敷く候。地震の度、揺って無残の如し。

## Notice of People Fleeing the Earthquake in All Directions

Item: The individual known as "Yuri Kurō" (Earthquake Hardship), born by nature in Shinano Province, in the estate of "Namaga-no-shō" (Raw/Unsteady Manor), village of Yurimono (Quaking Things), being an unreliable, wandering sort of fellow, has been reported as a missing person here and there, and spreading extraordinary disturbances in all directions — truly outrageous. Regarding the fires: they are determined to have lasted from the night of the 2nd day of the 10th month of this Year of the Rabbit until the lower half of the Hour of the Horse on the 3rd day. Regarding the destitute: they are confirmed to be in hardship and without homes. At present, as relief provisions, three bales of sweet potatoes have been consumed in small portions. Regarding rescue operations: shelters have been erected in seven locations, and it is requested that you be so kind as to extend mercy as you encounter this situation.

Item: It goes without saying that the laws of Lord Kashima must be observed, and the household must not be tilted in all eight directions. Should this individual spy upon the sleeping breath of the kitchen maids and cause a secret earthquake, or should he cause a "fleeing tremor" bringing down walls, a proper rafter log shall be used to immediately resolve the matter.

Regarding suffering and affliction: in the "Ichiren-taku" sect, the temple was shaken open in the middle of the night — the Slope of Dōshōji Temple, the "Riot-in" (Sōdōin) in the city, and so on — there is no confusion with the great fire. In the "Yuri-shitan" (Quaking Hidden Christians) sect, there is no such occurrence.

Should there be any noise or trouble, and should tiles rain down from the abalone direction, there shall be none of that. In the unlikely event that earthquake-people commit such acts, we shall immediately come forth, crush the foundation stone [Kanameishi], press it down firmly, and there shall be no sheltering of earthquake vagrants in the open fields. Every time there is an earthquake, it is as pitiable as being shaken mercilessly.
