I was ordered to accompany them. We departed at the hour of the Rabbit (around 6 AM) and returned after half past the hour of the Rooster (around 6:30 PM). All attendants wore haori and hakama. 11th day, Kinoe-Inu (Wood Dog): Clear. Inspection of horses for the horse races, as usual each year. 19th day, Mizunoe-Uma (Water Horse): Cloudy. On the anniversary of my late father's death, my mother and Keisen visited his grave. 21st day, Kinoto-Tori (Wood Rooster): Clear and pleasant. Aoi Festival (Hollyhock Festival). The Konoe messenger was Nakazono Chūjō, who rode a horse with purple ceremonial trappings. The Shinto ceremonies and all other matters proceeded as in previous years.
