扇子一箱《割書：三本入｜》生鯛一折代金弐百疋四ツ折目録添載片木被送之今日本家
近江守より被相廻也尤右は弾正當方え持参被相送其節祝酒等も可差
出尚又當方よりも右様答礼持参祝泊等可被出之旨兼而内約之處弾正義
此節無披用向有也昨十五日より遠方え罷越帰京之処来月上旬ニも相成趣ニ付
不従止右祝酒之處申合令延引如左右斗に相成者也依之右件之者え為
祝儀肴調百文半紙弐折遣之将又右一件願之通無滞相済ニ付而は已後
之処弾正より一紙寄申請ニ付旨兼而近江守ヲ以申入置處則今日祝義物与一
緒ニ相達也其写如左

貴公御未男知四郎殿名跡相續之義願之通被 仰付候趣ニ付則

よりも已後之義書付被受度由弾正より望ミ趣ニ付是又今日一統持参
相渡于時御祝被出之了而開座但供之者え祝義物無之後刻近江守より
青銅四文半紙二折被遣之也
今日當方より送書付一紙之写如左《割書：料紙宇田四ツ折｜》

十六日丁未晴れ 知四郎堀川名跡相続願いの通り相済みにつき、弾正より当方へ祝儀として扇子一箱（三本入り）・生鯛一折・代金弐百疋・四つ折目録添え、載せ片木にて送られ、今日本家近江守より回され来たり。尤も右は弾正が当方へ持参して送らるべく、その節祝酒等も差し出すべく、尚また当方よりも右様の答礼を持参し、祝泊等を出すべき旨、兼ねて内約のところ、弾正義この節無用の用向き有り、昨十五日より遠方へ罷り越し、帰京の処来月上旬にも相成る趣につき、止むを得ず右祝酒の処申し合わせ延引せしめ、左様斗りに相成る者なり。これにより右件の者へ祝儀として肴調百文・半紙弐折遣わし、将又右一件願いの通り滞りなく相済みにつきては已後の処、弾正より一紙寄せ申し請けにつき、その旨兼ねて近江守を以て申し入れ置く処、則ち今日祝儀物と一緒に相達したり。その写し左の如し。

一この度拙者病身につき保養のため御殿御暇願い奉り候。然る所名跡御座なきにつき、貴公の御末男知四郎殿名跡相続の義、願いの通り仰せ付けられ候趣につき、則ち退身仕り候。然る上は已後拙者の身分において聊かも御役界筋に候相成り申すまじく候。念のためこの段申し入れ置き候。所如件。

16th Day, Hinoto-Hitsuji, Clear - Regarding the completion of Chishirō's succession to the Horikawa family name as petitioned, Danjō sent congratulatory gifts to our household: one box of fans (containing three fans), one serving of fresh sea bream, 200 mon in money, with a four-fold catalog attached, delivered via wooden carrier. These were forwarded today by the main family's Ōmi-no-kami. It was originally arranged that Danjō would personally deliver these gifts to our household, at which time celebratory sake would also be offered, and our household would likewise present reciprocal gifts and celebratory lodging. However, Danjō had urgent business and departed for distant parts yesterday, the 15th, with his return to Kyoto not expected until early next month. Therefore, the celebratory sake arrangement was unavoidably postponed and delayed. Accordingly, I sent the person in question congratulatory gifts of prepared fish worth 100 mon and two folded sheets of half-paper. Furthermore, regarding the completion of this matter as petitioned, Danjō sent a written document concerning future arrangements, which I had previously requested through Ōmi-no-kami. This was delivered today together with the congratulatory gifts. A copy is as follows:

Regarding this matter: Due to my illness, I have petitioned for leave from palace service for convalescence. However, as there was no heir to the family name, your youngest son Chishirō-sama's succession to the family name has been granted as petitioned. Therefore, I hereby retire from service. Henceforth, in my personal capacity, I shall not in any way interfere with official matters. I record this for posterity. As above.

17th Day, Tsuchinoe-Saru - To reply to Horikawa Danjō's household, while he was away, I dressed in formal hemp attire, took along one servant, and went to meet his mother. As congratulatory gifts, I presented one box of fans (containing three fans), one serving of fresh sea bream, 100 mon in money, with a four-fold catalog attached, all received and sent via wooden carrier as reciprocal gifts. Both parties followed Ōmi-no-kami's instructions in this manner. Additionally, as Danjō had requested that our household also provide a written document regarding future arrangements, I brought and delivered this today as well. At that time, celebratory refreshments were served and we held a formal gathering. However, no congratulatory gifts were given to the accompanying servants. Later, Ōmi-no-kami sent four mon in copper coins and two folded sheets of half-paper.
