He inquired about such matters, wrote down twenty small folded papers for the 5th day listing who would be from the first group to the tenth group, presented them to the seated officials, and after their review, it was deemed acceptable. Next, following instructions from the seated officials, he finished marking them with stamps of one, two, three. Next, he took another sheet of writing paper, folded it horizontally, wrote only names in the order of one, two, then turned it over, left a one-character space and wrote only the names. Next, he turned it over again and wrote one-one, two-two following the seated officials' instructions, presented it to the seated officials, and it was deemed acceptable.
Next, he took another sheet, straightened it to vertical paper, wrote one fair copy of the tenth rotation, presented it to the seated officials, and after their review, it was deemed acceptable.
Next, he added ceremonial paper and outer wrapping to the same paper, arranged three sake cups ⟪marginal note: three times, earthenware⟫ on the three-legged tray that was on the floor, and placed it on the left side. Next, he added a sake server ⟪marginal note: ritual garments, small [unclear]⟫ ⟪marginal note: formal dress⟫ and brought it out. The presentation ceremony began with the senior seated official Kyōshō and proceeded to Deputy Administrator Kyōsen, and after each had three servings, the Chief Administrator received it. Next, ceremonial sake was served. The menu was as recorded below:
Three sake cups, lacquerware, clear soup ⟪marginal note: clear broth, clam⟫, three kinds of appetizers ⟪marginal note: octopus, herring roe, [unclear] dish⟫ This ⟪marginal note: these three kinds are properly appetizers served after rice, but recently they are served like this during celebration⟫
Bowl ⟪marginal note: mackerel sushi, vertical⟫
Inkstone lid ⟪marginal note: bonito with grilled inner board, shiitake mushrooms⟫ Bowl ⟪marginal note: washed carp, uto, three-cup vinegar⟫
Bowl: grilled sea bream, roasted; small bowl with quince
The above multiple servings were passed around. However, after the ceremonial sake concluded and everyone dispersed, the Deputy Administrator wrote the duty roster for the 1st day on one horizontally folded sheet of the same writing paper. According to precedent, since Kyōsen was in urgent need today, he had it written during the celebratory sake and handed it to the Chief Administrator. However, this was to be sent directly from the Administrator to the shrine scribe. After this business was completed, he put today's documents in his breast, imbued them with spirit, and had them taken out early. At this time they consulted about the deadline for alignment, and fixed it for the early part of the hour of the Snake on the 29th day. He returned home around the early part of the hour of the Horse and went directly to serve at the family gate.
26th day, Hinoto-Ushi, clear: Today I wrote two fair copies of the duty roster on sturdy paper for foot-washing. The writing paper was medium ceremonial paper, with white borders drawn and the top and bottom slightly trimmed. One sheet was left without adding the names of the mounted officials.
28th day, Tsuchinoto-U, clear: As the aoi messenger officials Shigenao, Akitsune and others returned to the capital, there was a general assembly of senior and junior members in the evening, and Kyōsen...
