これは嘉永2年酉年（1849年）8月24日九つ半時（正午頃）、弁慶橋辺りから出火した。折しも北風が激しく、この辺り残らず松枝町、松下町、代地、紺屋町、九軒町、大和町、岩井町、上納地、元岩井町から大門通り、亀井町表裏、小伝馬町一丁目から三丁目まで、同じく新道、油町、片側中程まで、大伝馬町二丁目三丁目まで焼け残る通りは、凧町、田所町、長谷川町、三光新道中程、人形町の通り、和泉町残り、堺町、また一口端堀留から新材木町、杉の森、乗物町、角屋新道、葺屋町、芳町、甚左衛門町、大坂町、小網町一丁目横町にて焼け止まった。明くる五つ時（午前8時頃）風も止み火も鎮まって、諸人やっとほっと安堵の思いをなしたので、そのあらましを記し申す。

【Upper section】
This was on the 24th day of the 8th month of Kaei 2, year of the Rooster (1849), at half past the ninth hour (around noon), when a fire broke out near Benkei Bridge. As it happened, the north wind was fierce, and this entire area was consumed without exception: Matsueda-chō, Matsushita-chō, Daichi, Kon'ya-chō, Kyūken-chō, Yamato-chō, Iwai-chō, Jōnōchi, Moto-Iwai-chō, from Daimon-dōri, Kamei-chō front and back, Kodenma-chō 1st to 3rd districts, likewise Shindō, Abura-chō, one side up to the middle, Ōtenma-chō 2nd and 3rd districts. The remaining streets that survived were Tako-chō, Tadokoro-chō, Hasegawa-chō, Sankō Shinmichi middle section, Ningyō-chō street, remaining Izumi-chō, Sakai-chō, and also from Hitokuchi-hashi Horitome to Shin-zaimoku-chō, Suginomori, Norimono-chō, Kakuya Shindō, Fukiya-chō, Yoshi-chō, Jinzaemon-chō, Ōsaka-chō, stopping at Koami-chō 1st district Yoko-chō. At the fifth hour of the following day (around 8 AM), the wind also ceased and the fire was extinguished, and all people finally felt relieved and at peace, so I record this general account.

Need not report to the town officials of their residential districts
But should apply directly to this location

And may earn income as they see fit; such persons will receive startup money
