現代語訳

【上部】
甲州身延山の大地震
時は嘉永六年丑年二月二日
朝五つ時（午前8時頃）から暁七つ時（午前4時頃）まで
大地震で、山も崩れそうになり、人々は大いに
驚いて倒れ転がり
逃げ去る者が多かった。
町家は倒れ、蔵の損壊も
数多い。不思議なことに尊い
御山は御堂をはじめ
奥の院まで何事もなく、人々は
夜が明けるまで
ありがたいことだと安堵の思いを
抱いたのである。

ここに下野国宇都宮でも
同国での地震の
次第として、二十八町の御城下で
家が崩れ、石造りの
蔵も数多く
損壊したが、人は
無事であった
とのことである。
これによって
諸国の人々に
知らせるために一紙に
まとめて
記録するのみ。

【Upper section】
The Great Earthquake at Mount Minobu in Kai Province
The time was the 2nd day of the 2nd month of Kaei 6, Year of the Ox
From the 5th hour of morning (around 8 AM) to the 7th hour of dawn (around 4 AM)
There was a great earthquake, and the mountains seemed about to collapse, causing people to be greatly
alarmed, falling and tumbling about,
with many fleeing.
Town houses collapsed, and warehouse damage was
numerous. Miraculously, the sacred
mountain, from the main hall
to the inner sanctuary, suffered no damage, and people
until daybreak
felt gratitude and relief.

Here in Utsunomiya in Shimotsuke Province as well,
regarding the earthquake in
that province,
in the castle town of 28 districts,
houses collapsed, and many stone-built
warehouses were
damaged, but the people
were unharmed,
it is said.
Therefore, to
inform people of all provinces,
this is compiled on one sheet
and recorded.
