○一寸四方の坪あるひは七百十一を開平円法にしてさしわたし
何ほどあるぞといふに 〽さしわたし三尺といふ
法にまづ七百十一坪と右に置円法七九にてわれば九百坪□
なるこれを開平をもつてのぞけばさしわたし三尺と
しるゝところえべし
○七九といふ事は円さしわたし一尺あれば一寸の坪七十九あり
一尺を二つにわれば五寸有又一分を二つにわれば五り【レ？】とな□
これに五寸をかくれは廿五となるこれに三尺壱寸六分をかく
れば七十九坪になるゆへに七九をかけるなり
○一尺三寸四方あるものを丸くなしてさしわたしは何
程といふ〽一尺四寸六分二り【レ？】五毛法に一二五とおきこれに
二尺三寸をかくればさし渡一尺四寸六分二り【レ？】五毛となる也

見る一十一十一十と絵図（えづ）のごとくかぞへあがりて見るときに
十といふは十の位なりまづ商に十とおき又下方にて十と
あがりて十とをくなり是は商の十にしたがひてをくなり
扨法にゐて下方の十を商の十をよぶなり二の百と置
又法の百より一十とかぞへあがりて法の百に商の十をよぶ
一一の千坪となる也これを実にて引はらひてみれば
のこりて

第二十 開平円法について
○一寸四方の坪数、あるいは七百十一を開平円法によって直径を求める問題
何ほどあるかという問に 答：直径三尺という
解法：まず七百十一坪と右に置く。円法の七九で割れば九百坪となる。
これを開平法で割れば直径三尺と
知ることができる。
○七九ということについて：円の直径一尺あれば一寸の坪七十九ある。
一尺を二つに割れば五寸ある。また一分を二つに割れば五厘となる。
これに五寸をかければ廿五となる。これに三尺一寸六分をかければ七十九坪になる。ゆえに七九をかけるのである。
○一尺三寸四方あるものを丸くして直径は何程かという
答：一尺四寸六分二厘五毛。解法：一二五と置き、これに
二尺三寸をかければ直径一尺四寸六分二厘五毛となる。
第二十一 開立法について
○坪数千七百二十八坪
これを縦横高さを

十二間立方なり
解法：実に千七百二十八坪と置いて、まず実で位を
見る。一十一十一十と図のように数え上がって見るときに
十というのは十の位である。まず商に十と置き、また下方にて十と
上がって十と置くのである。これは商の十に従って置くのである。
さて法によって下方の十を商の十で呼ぶのである。二の百と置く。
また法の百より一十と数え上がって法の百に商の十で呼ぶ。
一一の千坪となる。これを実で引き払って見れば

If you divide this using the square root method, you can determine that the diameter is three shaku.
○Regarding the factor 79: If a circle has a diameter of one shaku, there are 79 tsubo of one sun each.
If you divide one shaku by two, you get five sun. Also, if you divide one bu by two, you get five rin.
If you multiply this by five sun, you get 25. If you multiply this by three shaku, one sun, and six bu, you get 79 tsubo. Therefore, we multiply by 79.
○If you make a round shape from something that is one shaku three sun square, what is the diameter?
Answer: One shaku, four sun, six bu, two rin, five mo. Method: Place 125, and
multiply this by two shaku three sun to get a diameter of one shaku, four sun, six bu, two rin, five mo.
Chapter 21: Method of Cube Root

Method: Place 1,728 tsubo as the dividend, and first examine the place values in the dividend.
Count up as one-ten-one-ten-one-ten as shown in the diagram, and when you see that
"ten" represents the tens place, first place ten in the quotient, and also
ascend to ten in the lower method and place ten. This is placed following the ten in the quotient.
Now, using the method, call the ten in the lower method by the ten in the quotient. Place two hundred.
Also, count up one-ten from the hundred in the method, and call the hundred in the method by the ten in the quotient.
This becomes one-one thousand tsubo. If you subtract this from the dividend and see,
there remains
