　渡り出し屏抔損所多　御道具外箱抔不残乱

渡り廊下や屏風などの損傷箇所が多く、御道具の外箱などは残らず散乱している。辰巳・申の御櫓その外、白土鉢巻などが剥げ落ちた。稲荷の石垣、石鳥居、同じく灯籠などは大体倒れ、鳥居三本程、灯籠十六、七本程（が倒れた）。稲荷曲輪入口御門は棟通り落ち、石垣が破れ落ち、往来も甚だ気遣わしい。稲荷曲輪の同心は残らず小屋が潰れ、同心三人程が逃げ出し、間に合わずに押しつぶされた者をようやく助け出したとのこと。まず一命は取り留めるのではないかということ。七時半頃より地震の間隔が遠くなったが、時々地響きがして、その度に所々の壁や瓦などが落ち潰れるほどではないが、住居できない御小屋もかなりある。上下身の置き所なく、皆顔色を失い途方に暮れている次第で、御小屋内で押しつぶされた者を助けに出たが、歩行できない者が二、三人いるが、一命は取り留めるであろう。戸板に乗せて担ぎ運んでいる様子。火事場から物を盗むこと。この上どれほど強い地震があるかと心中穏やかでないこと、この上もないことで、御小屋内の者は残らず空地に集まり、高張提灯や箱提灯などを付け寄り集まっている。六つ時頃、俄かに所司代の御見分があったとのこと。

There was much damage to corridor passages, folding screens, and the like, with all the outer boxes of official equipment scattered about. The southeastern and southwestern turrets and other structures had their white earth decorative bands peeled off and fallen. The stone walls, stone torii gates, and lanterns of the Inari shrine mostly collapsed - about three torii gates and sixteen to seventeen lanterns. The entrance gate to the Inari compound had its ridge beam fall, the stone walls crumbled, and passage became extremely dangerous. All the quarters of the dōshin (low-ranking samurai) in the Inari compound were destroyed, with about three dōshin escaping, and those who couldn't escape in time and were crushed were finally rescued. It is said their lives will likely be spared. From around 7:30, the earthquake intervals became longer, but there were occasional ground rumblings, and each time walls and roof tiles would fall and collapse in various places, though not severely enough to make all quarters uninhabitable - still, quite a few quarters became unlivable. With no place for people of all ranks to settle, everyone lost their composure and was at their wit's end. Though they went to rescue those crushed inside the quarters, there were two or three people who couldn't walk, but their lives will likely be spared. They were carried on wooden doors. There was looting from the disaster scene. With such anxiety about how strong the next earthquake might be, everyone's peace of mind was utterly disturbed. All those from the quarters gathered in open spaces, clustering together around tall lanterns and box lanterns. Around 6 o'clock (midnight), the magistrate suddenly came for an inspection.
