新（しん）篇（へん）塵（ちん）劫（かう）記（き）下／巻（くわん）には。四十二ヶ所（しよ）の積（せき）
筭（さん）をあけ置（おく）。此内（このうち）にも。違（い）闕（けつ）あらん。勘（かん）の
達（たつ）者（しや）成人。是（これ）をたゝして。世（よ）に傳（つたへ）へは。誠（まこと）に
国家（こつか）の重（てう）器（き）たるへし。又世に筭勘（さんかん）の
達者（たつしゃ）。数（す）人有といへ共。此／道（みち）にふ入して。其（その）
勘（かん）者（しや）の位（くらい）を。よのつねの人。見／分（わけ）かたし。只（たゝ）

【下巻第一丁（表）】
『新篇塵劫記』下巻には、四十二箇所の積算（問題）を空白のまま掲げてある。この中にも誤りや欠落があるかもしれない。算術に優れた達人がこれを正して世に伝えるならば、誠に国家にとって貴重な宝となるであろう。また、世間には算術の達者が数人いるといっても、この道（算術）に深く通じていないと、その達人の実力を、普通の人が見分けることは難しい。ただ計算が速ければ上手だと言う。これは誤りである。それゆえ、その算術達人の実力を、おおよそ多くの人々が見分けられるようにするために、今この巻に（解法の）手順を除いて問題を出してある箇所が十二箇所ある。

【Volume 3 (Lower Volume), First Folio (Recto)】
In the lower volume of the *Shinpen Jinkōki*, forty-two calculation problems are presented with their answers left blank. Among these, there may well be errors or omissions. Should a person of true mastery in arithmetic correct these and transmit them to the world, this would truly become a treasure of great value to the nation. Furthermore, although there are said to be several people in the world who are masters of arithmetic, without deep knowledge of this discipline, it is difficult for ordinary people to distinguish the true level of such a master's skill. People tend to call someone skilled simply because they calculate quickly — this is a mistaken view. Therefore, in order that the general public might be able to discern, at least roughly, the true level of an arithmetic master's ability, in this volume there are twelve places where problems are presented with their methods of solution omitted.
