火事（の神）
「もしもし、そこへ行くのは雷公とおやじ殿ではないか」
おやじ「そういうのは火事公か。どこへ行くのだ」
火事「鹿島様がなまずを焼く火に使われないうちに消えるつもりさ」
おやじ「それが良い。火事は地震は野暮の上なしだ。火事よ、してお前たちは生きな世界かね」
雷「立ち退きが早いというから、隠居とこっそり新装開店だ」
火事「それはお楽しみだが、しかし雷公は上げまいぜ」
雷「なぜなぜ」
火事「手前は近所のごろつきだから」
芸者
「もし三味線屋さん、このごろはお忙しいかえ」
三味線屋
「どうして。地震この方、三筋はおろか一筋のお足も取れずに、前に困った四つ辻さ。実にどうしようかと思う。お前なんぞはおでん、燗酒で温まったという噂でございますぜ」
芸者
「それもほんの、あの当座さ。長くするとみそをつけますよ」
船頭
「本当に私たちの商売もやっぱり似たりよったりで、わずか二朱か三丁の直稼ぎさえできやせぬ」
呉服屋
「いずくの裏地も同じことかな。金儲かる話はなく、暇な上田に難儀に青目、愚痴ばっかりを」

「反物よりは口の早い料理でさえも食べてはなく、懐石商売にはなりやせぬ」

「俺もこの度の地震ではいやもう真っ先になって駆け出した」

「いや私なども本は焼け払いは取れず、この暮れは中本の泣き本さ。早く一夜明けて笑い本の世界としたい。この苦労を知らぬのはお囲いさん、お前たちね」

「何さ、たんなのうちづまる焼け故、私のほうまでお鉢が回らず、食べる物さえ不自由がちだわね」
噺家
「その口稼ぎに私らも組合の手古葉色を使い、仕事に出たが、口ほどに方々通しに効かぬ故、扇なめに会いました。これも後の話の種さ」

「唐人話でお屋敷のお狂言は上がったり、難儀なところへ今度の富士ましょうも、様子も中村屋で怪我をせぬのが幸せさ」
