例年武芸御覧被仰出候節末之番外以上之役附之面々ハ不及罷出候間立

**寛政二年(1790年)戌年**
**二月十七日**、中根靱負(なかねゆきのり)より左の通り御書付を渡され、役筋支配の者へ申し聞かせておくべき旨により、それぞれへ申し渡した。
一、御家老が御名代(代理)として御寺(菩提寺等)へ参詣する際、各自が詰めていたが、以後はこれを取りやめとする。
一、御徒目付については、これまでの通り一人ずつ罷り越すこと。
一、毛屋(もや)の繰り舟・御渡し舟については、以後取りやめとし、大橋を御通行なさる予定とする。
一、大安寺・天龍寺・安波賀(あわが)大長院への御参詣の節、御供廻り(お供の者)へ弁当を下される件については、御倹約の御年限中は取りやめとする。
一、御鷹野(鷹狩り)の節、お供の面々はこれまでの通り蓑(みの)を着用するよう、それぞれへ申し聞かせるべきこと。

但し、御中老が御代拝(代わりに参拝)の節、御寺へ御徒目付が罷り出ていたが、以後はこれを取りやめとする旨、同月二十日に右同人(中根靱負)より申し聞かされたので、その段を御徒目付へ申し渡した。

**四月二十一日**、右同人(中根靱負)より申し聞かされたことには:年始の御祈祷の節、熨斗目(のしめ)着用の儀については、思し召しをもって取りやめとする旨、仰せ出されたとのこと。そのように心得るよう、なお又支配内の熨斗目着用の者へも申し聞かせるべき旨により、それぞれへ申し達した。

例年、武芸御覧(武術の上覧)が仰せ出される節、末の番外以上の役付きの面々は罷り出るに及ばないので、立附(たてつけ)を戴くに及ばない。もっとも、右の内、無役の面々は罷り出るべきこと。これまた役付きの面々が御覧になられる際……〔本文続く〕

**17th day of the 2nd month:** Nakane Yukinori presented a written notice as follows, with instructions that it be communicated to those under the authority of the relevant offices; it was accordingly conveyed to each of them.
1. On occasions when the Senior Councillor (o-karō) attends a temple as a representative (myo-dai / proxy), each officer has hitherto been assigned to attend in waiting; henceforth, this practice is to be discontinued.
2. Regarding the foot inspectors (okachi-metsuke): they are to continue attending one at a time, as has been the practice until now.
3. Regarding the use of the Moya ferryboat and the crossing ferry: these are henceforth to be discontinued, and passage via the Great Bridge (Ōhashi) is to be used instead.
4. Regarding the practice of distributing packed lunches (bentō) to the members of the escort party on the occasion of visits to Daian-ji Temple, Tenryū-ji Temple, and Awaga Daichō-in Temple: this practice is to be suspended for the duration of the period of retrenchment (kenYaku).
5. Regarding the wearing of straw raincoats (mino) by members of the escort during the lord's falconry excursions (otakano): each person is to be informed that they are to wear straw raincoats as has been the previous practice.

Note: Regarding the practice of foot inspectors (okachi-metsuke) attending at the temple when the Middle Councillor (o-chūrō) performs a proxy visit (daihan) on behalf of the lord — henceforth this is to be discontinued. This was communicated by the same individual (Nakane Yukinori) on the 20th of the same month, and the foot inspectors were accordingly notified.

**21st day of the 4th month:** The same individual (Nakane Yukinori) communicated the following: regarding the wearing of noshime (a formal patterned silk garment) during the New Year prayers and rituals, it has been decreed that this practice is to be discontinued in accordance with the lord's wishes. All persons are to take note of this, and furthermore, those under each officer's authority who wear the noshime are to be duly informed.

**4th day of the 6th month:** Isono Tamiya communicated the following: as the matter stated in the attached document has been decreed, all persons are to take note accordingly.
Henceforth, on occasions when Maeda Hikojirō presents a lecture (kōdan) to the lord, the persons listed in the attached document are to be present and in attendance. It should be noted that this has not been decreed based on the lord's personal wishes, but rather in accordance with the precedent set during the Shōtoku era (1711–1716). All persons are to be aware of this.
