**寛政八年（1796年）辰年**
一、御清（おきよめ）の儀について、公儀（幕府）の御代替わり以後に仰せ出されたこともあり、またそれに準じて仰せ出された事柄もある。しかしながら、その間に間違いが多く生じたため、今日改めて仰せ出された。以来、心得違いのないよう仰せ出された。
一、東照宮・御営（おんえい）へ御参詣の節は、暮れ時より御清めを行い、御屋形向きの忌服を改めること。
一、正月・五月・九月の御祈祷の節も、右と同様のこと。
一、その外、諸神への御参詣においても、御清方（おきよめかた）の儀は、暮れ時より、召し上げ物（お供え物）に関わる者の忌服を改めること。その他の者は、服（喪）に関わる者であっても御屋形に罷り在っても差し支えない。ただし、御供に罷り出る者は、忌服いずれも改めること。
右の通り、江戸・御国（国元）ともに仰せ出された。

**Kansei 8th Year (1796), Year of the Dragon**
1. Concerning the purification rites (o-kiyome): since the change of the shogunal administration (kōgi go-daitai), various proclamations have been issued, and further proclamations issued in accordance with these. However, as many errors have arisen in their application, today new instructions have been formally issued. Henceforth, all parties are to ensure there are no misunderstandings.
1. When making a pilgrimage visit to the Tōshō-gū shrine or the御営 (o-nei, encampment/residence), purification rituals are to be conducted from dusk onward, and any mourning attire (kibuku) worn by those within the o-yashiki (domain residence) is to be changed.
1. The same applies during the prayer ceremonies (o-kitō) held in the 1st, 5th, and 9th months.
1. Additionally, even for pilgrimage visits to other shrines, purification procedures require that, from dusk onward, those involved in preparing or handling offerings (meshiage-mono) must change out of mourning attire. All others, even if they are in a period of mourning, may remain within the o-yashiki without issue. However, those who join the official procession (o-tomo) must change out of mourning attire regardless.
The above has been proclaimed for both the Edo residence and the home domain (o-kuni).

[Two characters illegible.] The above is a written notice (kakitsuke) passed from the senior elders (go-karō-chū) to the inspector (o-metsuke) at the Edo residence. Although no record (tome) of this notice being communicated via the go-yōnin in either Edo or the home domain can be found, it is recorded here for reference. 《Marginal note: Happyaku-ri (八百里)》
1. On the 21st day of the 7th month, there was a written communication from Mōri Denzaburō regarding the arrangements for the official procession (o-tomo gyōretsu), but as this is covered in the "Orders" (meirei no bu) section, it is omitted here.
