**寛政八年（1796年）辰年**
一、御清めの儀については、公儀（幕府）の御代替わり以後に仰せ出されたこともあり、またそれに準じて仰せ出されたこともある。しかるところ、間違いが多いため、今日改めて仰せ出されたので、以来、心得違いのないよう仰せ出された。
一、東照宮（御宮）へ御参詣の節は、暮れ時（日没）より御清めを行い、御屋形（藩邸）に向けて忌服（喪中・忌中の服）の者を調べること。
一、正月・五月・九月の御祈祷の節も、右と同様のこと。
一、その他、諸神への御参詣においても、御清めの方については、暮れ時より召し上げ物（神饌・供物）に関わる者の忌服を改め、その他は服中（忌服中）に当たる者であっても御屋形に留まっていることは差し支えない。御供に罷り出る者については、忌服の者ともに改めること。
右の通り、江戸・御国（国元）ともに仰せ出された。

**Kansei 8th Year (1796), Year of the Dragon**
1. Regarding the purification rituals (o-kiyome): there have been pronouncements issued since the change of the Shogunal administration (go-daitai), as well as further pronouncements made in accordance with those. However, as there have been many errors in practice, new pronouncements have been issued today; henceforth, all are instructed to ensure there are no misunderstandings in this regard.
1. When making a visit to the Tōshō-gū Shrine, purification (o-kiyome) is to begin from dusk (sunset), and persons in mourning attire (kibuku) within the domain residence (o-yashiki) are to be inspected and accounted for.
1. The same applies during the prayer ceremonies (go-kitō) of the 1st, 5th, and 9th months.
1. Similarly, for visits to other shrines, regarding purification procedures: from dusk onward, those involved in handling offerings (meshi-age-mono) who are in mourning are to be identified and checked; those otherwise in a mourning period (fuku-kakari) may remain within the domain residence without issue. However, those who are to join the procession (o-tomo) must all be inspected regardless of whether they are in mourning or not.
The above has been proclaimed for both Edo and the home domain.
