間其心得ニ而随分重高ニ無之様ニ相認可申義ニ候且又御役人共へ手筋を以相

○ 朔日（1日）・十五日・二十八日
右、五つ時に御触れを待たずして登城すべきところ、（登城が）取り止めになる節は御触れがあるべきこと。
但し、年始・五節句の登城の割り当ては、これまで通りとする。
正月七日・三月朔日・七月十五日
右（の日は）出仕に及ばざること。

右の趣を仰せ出され候条、ご意を得られるべく候。以上。

覚
○ 御飛脚の節に差し越し候書状のこと。重畳（内容の重複・かさ張り）なきよう認むべき旨、以前より御定めに候ところ、近年、重畳な書状が数多く見受けられ候間、一通りの（定例的な）勤めの書状は断じて取り止め、用事のみの書状を差し越すべく候。左様に候えば、銘々の宿々への状も残らず（届き）、つまるところ自分自身のためにもなり候間、その心得にて、十分に重畳なきよう認むべきことに候。
且つ又、御役人共へ手筋（コネ・伝手）をもって相頼み候書状の儀、只今まで□者（某者）、向寄（なじみ・縁故）をもって頼み来り候とも、自今以後は堅くそのような儀なきよう心得られるべく候。

尤も、御役人共へも、此以後断じて取次申さざるよう、この度仰せ付けられ候間、この旨、心得られ、以前の通り御右筆部屋へ差し出すべきこと。
右の通り、この度改めて仰せ出され候間、各々、ご意を得られるべく候。

別紙の通り、江戸表にて御触れ有之候。この表（当地）においても、諸月番へ相触れ候よう仰せ出され候間、ご意を得られるべく候。以上。

Regarding the above days, parties are to proceed to the castle at the Hour of Five (approximately 8 a.m.) without awaiting a special notice. When attendance is to be cancelled, a notice to that effect will be issued.
However, the schedule of castle attendance for New Year and the Five Seasonal Festivals shall remain as before.
The 7th day of the 1st month, the 1st day of the 3rd month, and the 15th day of the 7th month:
Attendance is not required on the above-mentioned days.
The above is hereby noted.
As the foregoing has been officially decreed, please take note accordingly. The above is hereby communicated.

Item — Kanpō 2nd year, the Year of the Dog (1742):
Memorandum
○ Regarding letters sent via the official courier (go-hikyaku): It has long been established by regulation that such letters should not be excessive in bulk or repetitive in content. However, in recent years, many overly lengthy and repetitive letters have been observed. Therefore, routine letters of mere courtesy (relating to ordinary duties) are henceforth strictly prohibited; only letters containing actual business matters are to be sent. If this is followed, letters to the various lodgings of each party will not be left undelivered, and this will ultimately be to each individual's own benefit. With this understanding, one should take care to compose letters that are not excessive or redundant.
Furthermore, regarding letters addressed to official staff (yakinin) requesting favors through personal connections: although some individuals have heretofore relied on personal acquaintances and connections for such requests, from this point forward, such practices are strictly to be discontinued.

Moreover, the official staff (yakinin) have also been instructed on this occasion that they are henceforth absolutely not to act as intermediaries for such requests. With this in mind, please submit correspondence as before to the Scribes' Room (go-yūhitsu-beya).
As the foregoing has been newly and formally decreed on this occasion, each party is hereby requested to take note accordingly.
2nd month
As the attached document shows, a notice has been issued in Edo. It has been decreed that the same notice be circulated to all month-duty officers at this location (Fukui) as well. Please take note accordingly. The above is hereby communicated.
9th day of the 2nd month
Addendum: The foregoing shall also be conveyed to all persons under your supervision. The above is hereby noted.
