在候様天方数馬申聞候右ニ付御徒目付共之儀も相伺候処与

又ハ役儀ニ而罷出候節ハ脇指はつし申ニ不及段明石将監申

追って、家来共の書状の儀は、堅く無用に候。この段、主人よりきっと申し付けられるべく候。
右の通り、書付を七ッ蔵にて奏者番中より相渡す。

一、延享二丑年（1745年）
○此度、与力共並びに小役人一統の者共まで、御能をご拝見仰せ付けられ候。これにより、帯刀の儀、（帯刀を）取らせ申すべきか、その段、組頭中より伺い有之候ところ、脇指を取り候には及ばず。併しながら、御前にて御能を遊ばされ候節は、脇指の腰を外し候よう仰せ出され候間、承知致し罷り在り候よう、天方数馬が申し聞かせ候。右につき、御徒目付共の儀も相伺い候ところ、与力共同様に致すべき旨。尤も、当番の御徒目付、または役儀にて罷り出で候節は、脇指を外し申すに及ばざる段、明石将監が申し聞かせ、右の段を松原次郎左衛門へ申し渡す。

Addendum: As for letters written by retainers, these are strictly prohibited without exception. On this point, masters (i.e., employers of such retainers) are to issue firm instructions to their subordinates.
The above written notice was handed over by the Sōja-ban officers at the Nanatsu-gura guard post.

Item — Enkyō 2nd year, Year of the Ox (1745):
○ On this occasion, it has been commanded that yoriki (mounted police deputies) and petty officials (ko-yakunin), as a whole body, be permitted to view the Nō performance. In connection with this, the group leaders (kumigashira) have submitted an inquiry as to whether swords should be removed. The response given is that there is no need to remove the short sword (wakizashi); however, it has been decreed that when the Nō performance is held in the lord's presence (go-zen), the wakizashi is to be removed from the hip cord (koshi) and set aside. All parties are to acknowledge and comply with this decree. So reported Amagata Kazuma. Regarding the same matter as it pertains to the o-kachi-metsuke (inspectors of foot soldiers), upon making inquiry, it was determined that they are to do the same as the yoriki. However, it has been further communicated by Akashi Shōgen that when the o-kachi-metsuke are on duty roster, or when appearing in an official capacity, they need not remove their wakizashi. This ruling has been conveyed to Matsubara Jirōzaemon.
